Fruit In September.

It is still August and there are many late season 'Summer fruits' about to come to an end in September. It is a sad time for fans of Lychee, Peaches, Strawberries and Plums, but as one door closes another opens. In September we will be confronted with new season fruit, to name a few: Black Turkish Figs, Chinese Pomelos, Spanish Pomegranates and the Chinese Ya Pear . So, whatever the month there will always be some delicious fruit out there!   New Fruit; Pomelo (China, Israel) The Pomelo is the largest citrus in the world. It is a cross between the Orange and the Grapefruit, it however does not present the bitterness of a regular grapefruit. The pith is very hard and difficult to open so requires some experience. Should be in Tesco, Lidl and Greengrocers. It is in season from China, Mid September to Early March. Over the years, I have tried some bizarre and interesting fruit, delicious exotics that I'm surprised to see in the UK to things like Cotton Candy grapes. But, it has all been delicious.
