Stand With Cornelius and His Fight

Donation protected
This fund is for Cornelius Lindsey, former art director and well-known artist who has displayed his works throughout the country during his career. He is the the husband of Alvina and father to Amber and Celeste. He was diagnosed on April 12, 2018, with Stage 4 Thymic Carcinoma—a very rare, aggressive, terminal cancer forming in the chest.

Due to the rarity of this cancer, his insurance company denied coverage for the treatment plan needed in order to slow the growth of the masses caused by the increase of the cancer cells. Only having 400 cases documented in the US in 2017.

While Cornelius is grateful to have a strong spiritual support system, advanced life saving cancer treatments and new ongoing research studies comes with serious financial concerns and unexpected expenses that the family would like to be prepared for.

Background

The journey started on April 1,2018. Easter Sunday. Cornelius experienced traumatic full body tremors that almost took him to the ground. Thankfully an angel was there to catch and assist him. He settled but the next day was his first trip to the ER. He was diagnosed with hypoglycemia and slight case of pneumonia. He had to have his glucose monitored twice daily and was prescribed an antibiotic. On April 11,2018 a day after ending the antibiotic, Cornelius complained about a pain in his chest near his heart, which he was then taken to the ER, where they did a CT Scan. Upon seeing the results, the ER doctors had him transferred to the main hospital where they had set up a biopsy for the following day( April 12th). The following Tuesday, April 17th the prognosis was in,  which confirmed him having Thymic Carcinoma which had spread throughout his body, [informing us that there was no cure.]which has no cure.

Current Condition

As of September 30th he had been stable for two months. On October 1st, 2018— he started showing symptoms that were questionable. This included having full body tremors, as well as, unstable blood glucose readings going as low as 26.

On October 29th — Cornelius had a follow up CT Scan and heart echo which received positive results of no further growth in two of the masses. We are continuing the same schedule of treatments that led to this successful outcome in hopes of additional positive news for the follow up CT Scan at the end of January 2019.

Treatment Plan

Surgery is not an option due to his low bodyweight, the current stage and extent of his disease. Physically, he would not able to handle the IV form of chemotherapy, because it would have been too harsh to withstand. The current option for treatment is oral chemotherapy which consists of taking 4 tablets (2000 milligrams) per day, consistently for 2weeks and off one week, giving him time for his body to regroup. He has been on this treatment plan for 4 months, and 10 treatments of radiation between August 29th- September 11th. This is in hopes that he will be one of the 23% that will show results of slowing the growth of the cancer cells. Please continue to join us in praying for this result.

Their Current Need

For those who know Cornelius, he is a devout man of God who is known for his quiet demeanor, and magnificent smile. He is a loving, caring, and supportive husband, father, and friend who is willing to help in any capacity possible. Now Cornelius needs our help.

We thank everyone for all the help, donations, emotional support, and prayers. Please continue to keep him in your heart in these coming days, weeks, and months.
