Although there has been some effort throughout the years towards gender equality in the church, the whole constitution is based on an archaic, misogynist and severely edited book. The quotation above is one of the many examples of how the Bible portraits women in the church. Biblical interpretation has set separate standards for men and women, and in a nation where the church has almost as much decisional power as the government, it has caused people to believe such teachings as the only truth.
