Friday the 13th in Los Angeles

It is almost time for that special day that only horror lovers know how to celebrate,Friday the 13th! It is coming up this May, so I have come up with some fun ways to honor this day of superstitions, Jason Vorhees , and general creepy and horrorific things here in Southern California.

1. The Great Horror Movie Night is doing an outdoor screening of Friday the 13th(naturally) at the old zoo in Griffith Park. The old zoo is a fun creepy spot known to be haunted ,so a horror movie on Friday the 13 th goes together like Jason and a machete ! 2. If you are looking for a night of no sleep with the man of your nightmares the head to the New Beverly Cinema for the Nightmare on Elm Street marathon . This May 13 they are screening 7 Nightmare on Elm Street movies on 35mm with fun old trailers as well! It all starts at 7:30pm so get ready for an all night slash fest. 3.If all this talk of going out and being around people makes you want to pick up your own machete then plan c is for you. Load up on pizza and have your own horror movie marathon in the comfort of your own home. TIPS FOR THE PIN UP GIRL CLOTHING YARD SALE

1. No dress is worth beating someone up.

Seriously …don’t push ,shove,pull knives, you know the same way you should be going through life goes for PUG yard sales as well. If you do usually do these things in your life maybe just put it on hold for the day.

2. Help out your fellow Pugsters.

In the dressing room we are all in a flurry with Jenny’s and Heidi’s on and off. So sometimes reaching that zipper on the back is just not possible , be ready to make a new friend and help a stranger. Also it is always good PUG karma if it just doesn’t work for you ask around you if anyone wants to try it you.. You may help someone get their unicorn ❤️

3. Be patient

While ,yes ,there may be an advantage to being the first one in if you are looking for one particular piece, but If you are just going to see whatever treasures you can find , have patience. There is so much clothes and chances are you will walk away with some great deals and they are restocking for hours for just wait .

4. Do not attack the PUG team

They are there to help us and they want it to go smoothly. So do not grab, yell, or tackle them. Because then we all get punished so don’t be the rotten apple that ruins the fun for the rest of us.

5. Bring a nonmessy snack and water

Shopping is cardio. And we don’t want anyone getting hangry.

The Walking Dead Season 6 Finale—-Warning …Spoilers Ahead!

Last night I ,like most of America tuned in to watch The Walking Dead 90min season finale. I even went so far as to watch it LIVE which is quite an accomplishment for me considering it is the only show that I sit through commercials for. Being a huge fan of not only the comics ,but also the show I was on the edge of my seat waiting to see Negan. Truth be known ,I already have a serious crush on ,Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the actor who plays him ,but even if they didn’t cast that sexy man I would still be overly excited to meet the big bad Lucille swinging maniac .

So let me get this out of the way.So you can get going to craft your comments on how wrong you think I am … I liked the episode and the cliffhanger didn’t make me hate it .

Ok ,now that is out of the way let me tell you why I have this somewhat unpopular opinion.

1. NEGAN!!! Mr. Morgan played the role so perfectly with just the right amount of charm humor and homicial maniac that I couldn’t be happier. And since Negan is still in the comics I hope that means we get many seasons his smile. Also the fact that his speech is taken for the most part directly from the comics … Well I was in nerd heaven . Yes, we won’t get all the fuckity fuck fucks that he uses but it’s AMC and that’s what the blu Ray is going to be for.

2. Andrew Lincoln’s performance in this episode was insanely good. The path he takes from cocky and way to comfortable in the beginning of the episode in Alexandria to the tear sweat and snot filled mess at the end was something to behold. While everyone else complains about the the huge amount of time on the rv travel(trap) I was completely emotionally engaged watching Rick as he progressively realized the mistake he made and the fear when he was holding Michonne’s hair. Ughhhh!!!! This killed me I could watch that man emote all day !

3. The rv scenes …the way this was written and shot I felt like I was being pushed and trapped into a smaller and more stressful corner every stop.This episode did a lot to give me the feeling of being there more than just a spectator.

4.Maggie …all I can say is poor girl. Just when they give her the comic haircut they go and make her sick. Why ?!?

5. Carol… I love the character of Carol and the journey we have seen her character take from quiet a used wife and mom to kick ass and do anything for her family. Now with this most recent break in her mental well being I am reminded that this is the same woman we have seen for six years and even though she has become the badass “Look at the flowers “,and baking cookies Carol she is still such a well rounded fleshed out character that these moments of weakness and doubt make her moments of strength all that much more spectacular and let us think “if she can do it , I bet I could too.”.

6. Abraham❤️Sasha and Abraham❤️Eugene

7.The Knights from the Kingdom coming to help Morgan and Carol. YES!! I am really hoping we meet Ezikel and Shiva by he mid season finale next year.

Now with all of this goodness I will say while the cliffhanger didn’t make angry I can say of course I would have loved to have gotten that emotional release (cry my eyes out)with seeing and knowing who we lost, but I understand it’s TV an they have been doing cliffhangers forever to keep you coming back and talking about it. The show runner Scott Gimple has said we will see the whole bloody SceneKit all its gory glory I the first episode and it will be worth it. So I am going to trust the people who have not let me down in making a TV show that I love and I will wait patiently for season 7.

The Men of Orphan Black

Is anyone as excited for this as I am? You may be wondering why go to a panel without the queen clone Tatiana Maslany , but let me tell you the boys know how to have fun ! As much as I adore the Sestra herself so many wonderful moments in the brilliant show that is Orphan Black have the men ( Donnie and Alison dancing on a bed anyone?) I can’t wait to watch Felix, Donnie, Rudy , and the wonderful creators have a boys club meeting at Wondercon this year! Will you be there showing your clone club pride?

Carrie- The Killer Musical Experience

Horror,Stephen King, and Musical Theater three things that I love and I got to experience all these things in one fun filled evening. Carrie-The Killer Musical Experience is based on the Stephen King’s novel Carrie a story of a shy teenage girl who is tormented by the popular kids and her very religious mother. She comes to discover she has some special powers and after prom everyone will know what happens when things go too far.

To be very honest I was not expecting much from this show. I was able to get tickets on Goldstar and it seemed like a fun Halloween month activity. Also, it is at the Los Angeles Theater on Broadway in Downtown Los Angeles so the chance to go to this historic location is worth it to me.I have to say I was pleasantly surprised, this is an exciting , interesting, well done show. The character development in the songs give you something the movie version was missing. The actors in this production were strong and the voices powerful. The first act had me sucked in ,but I knew if they didn’t pull off the prom scene it would be failure in my book. They did it above and beyond what I thought they could do. The effects,the set ,the lighting design it all worked sepectaularly!

If you are in Los Angeles this October then you need to experience this prom for yourself! It is opening October 8th at the Los Angeles Theater and it will be playing for only 6 weeks so get your ticket to the prom now

“The Green Inferno”

Let me start this month of horror movies off with a new release out in theaters now. I was anxiously awaiting the release of this movie for months. First thing that made me squeal with excitement was the name Greg Nicotero on the screen . I knew I was in for some great gore effects. Next I was looking forward to Eli Roth’s gorey,fun,surpring horror style. I wasn’t disappointed .
The movie follows a group of college kids who head off to the rainforest to try and protect a village from being destroyed . they save the village go home and are heroes all over the news……..just kidding …things don’t go well for them. I love the fact that all of the actors are not well known ( except I did say “oh look Juni Cortez from spy kids”) it kept me wondering who would be the next to die.
Is this movie a masterpiece of suspense and horror . Not really. Is it a fun gory highly entertaining Eli Roth horror movie ? YES. I really loved it for that pure entertainment factor and I will probably see it again In theaters.

Let’s Read Comics – NAILBITER vol.1

Comics are for everyone. The ever expanding world of comics is ful of so many genres that I’m sure if you look hard enough you will find something up your alley. I myself have been reading comics since I was a kid and I had a comic shop right next door to where I lived. It was a magical wonderful thing to walk out the front door to the building and fifty feet away was the newest issues of Archie or Wonder Woman. I was in third grade so my taste were tame. Fast forward to now and I still read Archie and Wonder Woman but my taste has expanded and I read all different kinds of comics.

NAILBITER is Horror/Mystery/Awesome comic story By Joshua Wiilliamson and Art by Mike Henderson. It is a story about a town in Oregon that for some mysterious reason is the birthplace to sixteen nasty serial killers.There is a FBI profiler who is investigating the town and he goes missing. Now Officer Nicholas Finch is in town looking for his missing friend. Finch has to work with locals including the notorious Nailbiter ,who he has a past with ,if he is going to solve this mystery.

The title of this first volume is “THERE WILL BE BLOOD”, and they are not lying on that one. I was drawn in and hooked oby the first two pages where we meet the Nailbiter in full munching form.One of my favorite things in this book is when we get the stories on some of the 16 serial killers that hail from this town. they are not your run of the mill slice and dice backstories. They have that dark humor that I love in a horror comic. You get the feeling of a David Lynch movie, Criminal Minds, and Hannibal

You will find this bloody good time put out by IMAGE COMICS. If you are making your wondercon comic shopping list (like I am ) then you should give this one a try. The story is original and the art and color pallate make you fall into the gritty world of Bukaroo,Oregon.

Wondercon …what did you pack?

Wondercon weekend in Anaheim a weekend of nerdtastic fun. The proper packing is always important. First thing is I do love cosplay. I love to watch people in great outfits and I admire all the time and effort that goes into the amazing creations. That said comfort is a priority for me when I’m going to be walking and on my feet all day so prefer closet play as its sometimes called. Fun clothes that give fandom cosplay with comfort and ease. Here is a glimpse at a few things I packed for the weekend including plenty of fun reusable bags to carry around all my purchases.

I will be spitting up my wondercon posts into nice little bite sized pieces …perfect for snacking on info.
