Review: Gymshark Amplify Seamless

Gymshark is a brand that is all over Instagram as well as in, you guessed it…the gym. With its different ranges and high quality garments, it’s no surprise that Gymshark is a brand that is going from strength to strength.

The seamless style initially caught my eye when Gymshark launched their ombre range back in February. With a marketing strategy that is so slick and which utilises the online presence of fitness influencers, Gymshark cleverly advertises their up and coming ranges in a way that gets every gym goer eagerly awaiting the drop of their new products.

With garments selling out in a matter of minutes – I missed out on the ombre seamless set and was gutted! This time round I made sure that I got the Amplify Seamless in Light Grey and Sea Green after seeing Instagram fitty Krissy Cela absolutely donning the look in one of her posts.

Safe to say, after receiving the Amplify Seamless set…I’m hooked.

With its soft touch, comfortable fit and incredibly flattering style, the Amplify Seamless Set is a must have for any gym bunny, yogi or runner.

It is hands down the nicest activewear set that I have ever purchased and here’s why:

  • Comfort = 10/10
  • Style = 10/10
  • True to Size = 10/10
  • Practicality = 8/10 (Depending on whether or not you like having your midriff out during an intense workout)
  • Sweat Marks: Minimal! Considering this is a light grey set, I was expecting the sweat patches to be horrendous but even after an hour and half heavy leg session and 25 minutes on the stair master (I was dripping) – there was only the slightest hints of sweat under the arms and on my chest!

I also bought the Slouch Hoodie in Sea Foam Green Marl to go with the set and it matched the look perfectly. The hoodie is so soft and perfect for a yoga class.

The Amplify Seamless Set in Light Grey is unfortunately sold out on the Gymshark website, however there are so many beautiful pieces to choose from – including their latest drop of their Vital Seamless Collection.

Here’s what’s on my wish list…

Beauty Blog: Power Lips Review

Lipstick obsessed, I’ll be the first to say you can never have too many lipsticks! With lip kits such as Kylie Jenner’s taking the makeup industry by storm, liquid matte lipsticks have become quite the staple piece in every girls makeup kit.

One for finding unique brands I instantly fell in love with the Power Lips Fluid lipsticks from NuSkin. Made up of a weightless formula with ingredients such as avocado oil and vitamin E, these products keep your lips soft and nourished whilst giving you hours of long lasting coverage.

When I say these lipsticks are long lasting, I really do mean it! To put it in perspective, I applied the Power Lips Fluid in the morning before starting work and after about five cups of tea, an ice lolly, lunch and about 2 litres of water…the colour was still there and had not lost its shade or coverage! This was a good five hours after the first application!

With 12 colours available the Power Lips Fluid is perfect for all skin tones and tastes. I always go for nudes and pinks so I chose colours Promotion and Persistence in this product and absolutely adore the shades.

Powerlips 3Price: £18.50 per product

Persistence is my favourite out of the two as it is more pink and what I normally go for with pink eyeshadows and a rosy cheek.

Promotion has more of a lighter tone and is a gorgeous nude which looks great with orange and pink eyeshadow tones, great for creating a summer day and evening look.

What is also great about these two colours is that you can double them up! I love wearing shade Persistence and layering Promotion over the top to brighten.

These lipsticks are very matte which makes them so long lasting but to prevent them from feeling dry after a few hours I always apply my Paw Paw lip balm over the top for a more nourishing and soft feel.

I order my products from the lovely Gabby Louise through Instagram which I urge you to do the same as she is great for advising what shades to go for and sends through lots of customer photos for you to see what shades are right for you! Somèrfield Hair Products Review

After weeks of being out in the sun, it’s safe to say that my hair is not as healthy as it once was and feeling really quite dry.

In desperate need of some TLC and moisture I’ve been on the search for a reputable hair care brand to restore my hair and get it looking shiny and nourished. Made from all natural products from hydrolysed silk to avocado oil, jojoba seed oil, honey extract and royal jelly extract, the Somèrfield hair mask cap most certainly restored my hair back to health after just one use and I cannot recommend it enough!somerfield-products-e1530566994292.jpg

Each cap is loaded with a premium natural and organic formula that soaks into your hair once in the the cap is on. Just 15 short minutes later and your hair is packed full of moisture and feeling that much more silkier and looking shinier than ever.

In addition to the incredible hair mask cap that is loaded with nutrients is their protein booster which I must say is my absolute favourite! Made up of a unique concentrative formula of seven key ingredients, these protein boosters are your best friend when it comes to restoring life back into your hair. A great combination when used alongside the hair mask cap.

Here’s how to use these gorgeous products:

What I love most about these Somèrfield products is that they are sulphate free, paraben free, cruelty free and rich in organic ingredients that reverse the signs of visible damage making for a more nourished and healthier feel and appearance.

They are so easy to use and smell absolutely gorgeous! I am so happy with the transformation of my hair from dry and damaged to silky and shiny. My hair looks and feels the most nourished it has been in such a long time and so soft to touch.

Travel Diaries: Stockholm Sweden

After a rather extensive break from blogging this weekend’s venture to Scandinavia got my creative juices flowing and gave me a lot to write about in this new travel series that I am about to share with you.

Having fallen in love with the Scandinavian culture when in Norway a couple of years ago, my boyfriend surprised me with a trip to Sweden for my birthday and it was honestly one of the best trips we have ever been on!

With 14 islands, over 50 bridges and cute coffee shops on every corner, it’s no wonder why Stockholm attracts visitors from all over the world.

6E39A886-4295-4AAC-9E42-14ECCEC52401.JPG

There really is something for everyone whether it’s sightseeing, nightlife or cultural awakenings – you name it – Stockholm has it.

Our Top Tips!

Really explore when you’re over there – we walked pretty much all day every day (my feet are paying the price now) but it enabled us to see so much and stumble across so many gorgeous streets and locations that we probably wouldn’t have found if we stuck to a rigid plan.

Gamla Stan – The Old Town

Adorned with winding streets and cobble stone paths this stunning location is tourist central but is home to stunning architecture, restaurants and little sun traps to sit out in and have a drink or two.

Across the bridge you will find a much more tranquil area with benches that look out onto the waterfront.

Haymarket

We stayed at the Haymarket hotel which is right in the heart of Stockholm and absolutely beautiful with its old movie glamour theme that runs throughout the venue and daily market that fills the square with stunning flowers, gifts and stalls. Situated in the hotel is an incredibly ‘Instagramable’ cafe called ‘Gretas‘ which is decorated with baby pinks, marble tables and trendy seating.

 Rooftop Bars

Stockholm is packed with many rooftop bars which when the sun is shining become an instant hot spot for both tourists and locals alike. We went for dinner at Tak a trendy Japanese Asian fusion restaurant that boasts delicious dishes and glamorous almost Great Gatsby kind of vibes. After leaving the restaurant you can walk over the bridge and onto a trendy rooftop bar which has lots of outdoor seating, fairy lights, cosy blankets, DJ and a cocktail bar. Another great spot is the Skybar which is located in the Radisson Blu hotel and offers stunning views across the city.

Currency Advice

Stockholm is nearly completely cash free, meaning that you can use your debit and credit cards out there for pretty much everything – so don’t bother getting your money exchanged for Swedish Krona. We used our cards for the entire trip and didn’t need cash for anything other than buying a suitcase from one of the market stalls!

My Wardrobe for Sweden

It is well known that the Swedes are trendy, stylish and effortlessly cool, which made buying outfits for the trip incredibly exciting! With relaxed trousers and plain tops becoming all the range, I opted for this simple yet stylish look for my first two outfits of the trip.

Day 1

IMG_7213.JPG

My entire outfit is Zara and is one of my favourite looks ever with it’s casual yet chic vibes mixed with a hint of sports luxe – perfect for travelling and achieving a fashionable airport outfit.

Day 2

This trouser and T-shirt look was very fashionable amongst the Swedes in Stockholm with many of the locals opting for a relaxed trouser tee combo and white trainers look. A staple look for any summer wardrobe. My t-shirt is from Topshop and trousers are River Island.

Day 3

For the other two days the weather really started to heat up so I styled denim shorts with a River Island belt, simple Zara vest, black Zara blazer and Zara sliders for the Saturday daytime and an elegant white playsuit from River Island for the evening when we went to the Skybar.

Day 4

Processed with VSCO with a5 presetOn our last day I wore paper bag high waisted shorts from Topshop with a white Zara vest and plain white trainers.

An Instagram Guide Essential

There is so much more I can say about Stockholm but at risk of boring you all with excessive writing I will leave you with a parting gift that will be very helpful if you are thinking about booking a trip to Stockholm.

That gift and helpful piece of advice would be to head over to Instagram and follow @visitstockholm for detailed guides and tips on everything you need to know from which rooftop bars to go to, top restaurants, events and pretty much everything there is to do in Stockholm!

Stockholm was an incredible city to visit and with its stunning landscape, subway art and gorgeous architecture, it is a city that we completely and utterly fell in love with.

Winter Look Book

As much as I love summer, I also adore the winter months. With big coats – chunky scarves and layers upon layers of clothes that you can style together, winter makes for a great season of fashion.

Living in the UK, although Christmas may be over, the cold is certainly here to stay for a little bit longer so here are some of my key looks for the cold winter months.

Look 1

This is my favourite look for combining smart and casual with a tailored coat that brings sophistication to the look coupled with biker boots and a chunky roll neck jumper to bring it back to a more casual style.

Layer Breakdown

Coat: River Island
Boots: Zara

Look 2

Zara have so many beautiful coats this season and it’s definitely a trend amongst fashion fanatics with bloggers and celebs wearing these tomboy style loose fitting coats with almost every outfit. I’ve paired this statement coat with Chelsea boots, jeans and another thick roll jumper.

Look 3

I love this look for a real chilled and laid back style. The vinyl leggings really ramp the outfit up to new levels and when coupled with an oversized pilot jacket, the style looks effortlessly cool and one of my favourites to wear for chilled out days that require a glam edge.

Brightening the grey I have paired the look with some aubergine leather look trousers that were £14 from George in ASDA! I couldn’t believe it when I saw them but I have honestly had so many compliments on them, so a good buy and for £14 it really is a steal. I also can’t get enough of the white bodysuit with it’s big bell sleeves, a definite must have for this season.

Microblading: What to Expect

Microblading: A form of semi-permanent makeup that has taken the beauty industry by storm with it’s natural appeal and outstanding results.

For those who are yet to hear about microblading, it is a treatment that simulates the appearance of hair to partially or fully camouflage missing eyebrow hair by using fine deposits of cosmetic pigments.

For years I have struggled with my crazy brows that just do their own thing and demand serious attention in the mornings! However, after serious research into the art of microblading I still felt a little uneasy about the whole thing, until I spoke to a friend (with impeccable brows) who had hers done and recommended me to the incredible Brow & Co in Torquay, Devon.

It seemed that all I needed was a gentle push and personal recommendation for me to take the plunge and book a consultation. Having thoroughly researched and looked through countless photos of Phibrow Artist, Lori Callow’s work I felt extremely at ease.

At the consultation Lori talked me through the process and did a patch test to make sure that I wasn’t allergic to any of the products that she would be using, a few weeks later and it was time to transform my brows!

The microblading treatment is split into a two step process. The first session takes around three hours and it is in this appointment that your brow technician will talk you through everything, design the perfect shape brows for your face and ensure that you are happy before they get to work. The second part is 4-8 weeks later and takes around about an hour to go over the brows and fill in any gaps that the pigment didn’t take to.

Is it Painful?

Everyone has different pain thresholds, however for someone who has zero tattoos and only my ears pierced it’s safe to say that I’m not exactly used to the sensation of painful procedures! Nonetheless, I found that it was completely bearable, the sensation is more of a scratching feel than that of a tattoo gun due to the fact that microblading is performed with a hand tool with you guessed it, a small blade on the end.

After creating the base of the strokes and getting the main outline of my brows, Lori applied numbing cream, which I would definitely recommend as after that I couldn’t feel a thing!

On a scale of 1-10 (10 being excruciating) on how painful I would rate microblading, I’d give it a 3 before the numbing cream and after the numbing cream a 0. Of course this will be different for everyone.

I was absolutely amazed when I looked in the mirror after my treatment, not only had Lori filled in the gaps in the tails of my brows but she had completely reshaped them to complement my bone structure and shape my face, making them fuller and more defined.

Before and After My First Treatment:

The Healing Process

The healing process is an interesting time to say the least! For some the flaking and scabbing of their brows is little to none but for others (aka me) I had a lot of flaking which was pretty heartbreaking as in the flakes you could actually see the microbladed hair stroke! However, this is why microblading is a two part process! Your skin will flake as there has been a lot of work done to the area so it needs to heal and that unfortunately is in the form of scabbing and flaking. Between days 1-3 my brows were looking fab and extra fleeky, but come day 4-10 my brows were shedding!

Screen Shot 2017-12-18 at 21.17.16

Seeing this on Brow & Co’s Instagram was literally the biggest life saver as I knew that I was going through the process as expected and experienced by most!

The Top Up

The top up comes 4-8 weeks later and by this time, you’ll have noticed the areas where the pigment hasn’t stuck and there may be some gaps. However after the top up your brows are back and looking so much more defined and fuller!

After My Top Up:

I honestly could not recommend microblading enough, you achieve perfect brows without the daunting thought of it being permanent – meaning that all it takes is a 6 month to yearly top up to keep them looking fresh and no risk of the colour fading like tattoos can have the tendency of doing.

On top of that, if you are considering microblading and unsure of where to go, I urge you to check out Brow & Co’s Instagram page. Both Lori and Jourdan are absolute experts and can guarantee the perfect brows for everyone no matter what skin type, age or eyebrow situation!

I’m so glad I went to Lori to get my brows microbladed. She is outstanding at what she does and ensures she really takes time and pride in her work with each and everyone of her clients.

Winter Wonderland

Winter Wonderland in London’s Hyde Park is a definite must in the festive season, adorned with fairy lights, bespoke stalls and German bars.

Not only does it boast the perfect day out but Winter Wonderland goes into the night and sees hundreds and hundreds of people make their way through the stunning festive fair.

We had the best day and this is the perfect excursion for anyone visiting London as well as locals looking to get in the festive spirit.

All of the photos were taken on an iPhone X and iPhone 8 Plus, which I am still so impressed by with the professional quality that the camera has!

Staying Motivated

As the nights draw in and the temperature drops, the thought of putting on your gym gear and running trainers just doesn’t seem as appealing as it once did in the warmer months.

However, in the lead up to Christmas, staying fit and healthy is certainly something that I myself am striving for. With party season almost upon us, feeling confident and comfortable in your own skin is imperative.

For me, even if I haven’t changed with regards to my body shape – if I don’t exercise, I feel really guilty! But even I must admit that energy levels seem to be at a new low with working full time and finishing a days work to walk outside and see that the sky is near enough pitch black …let’s just say a movie night in bed would be a lot more appealing than heading back outside for a gruelling workout session.

In order to combat the growing desire to hibernate, I’ve found that signing up to classes at the gym and doing Body Ignition bootcamp three times a week, certainly seems to be doing the trick!

When you have to rely on your own motivation and willpower to get you back out of the door and into the gym, you’ll notice that it becomes that much easier to skip your workout with many excuses like “i’ll just do an extra long session tomorrow” quickly swimming into your head. Only tomorrow it’s the same story and the same excuse not to leave the house!

Signing up to bootcamps and classes help solidify your commitment as you know you have said you’re going to go, you’ve paid your money and everyone else is plucking up the motivation to do it!

If you’re starting to feel yourself slip into hibernation mode, sign up to a exercise class at the gym or find a running buddy to meet at a certain spot at a certain time, this way you’ll have to get it done as you won’t want to let them down!

Making small commitments can go a long way, and your body will most definitely thank you for it. Not to mention the guilt free Christmas that you can enjoy!
