Pameli Kayal
'Art is frozen music that flows like the waves and tides...Which is why my mother named me Pameli...And later she explained what it meant. That day I realized my connection with ocean and why that keeps pulling me more and more..'
"Pameli - estuary of Tar River flowing east into the Pamilico Sound -inlet of Atlantic between the mainland and off shore islands".
Pameli Kayal, Artist and Architect, based out of Mumbai in India. She had been painting ever since she was a kid but her family gave her the choice of either to get married or study a degree course. Coming from a background of architecture, she opted for the same which never parted her from her first or childhood Love - art.
Pameli was always a rebel in the family. Even though she was only child of her parents and only girl child in her Father's family, things were never easy for her. After a point she stopped caring about the comments passed by her family and her father was the only person to support her in the choices she made.
First choice was to leave home after school to study Architecture. Second choice was to shift to Mumbai and start her career as an architect. She has worked with the best Architect the Country has seen - Padmashri Hafeez Contractor, who contributed a great deal in her dreams. It was him who sent her for making a car art for Kala Ghoda Art festival. That is when she realized she wanted to practice art. It was not easy to survive and paint because the job as an architect was 18hours daily work. Some how she managed to change her job to get more time for making art.
Her first commissioned work was for the MD of Junoon hospitality in NYC followed by the commission from Master Chef Vikas Khanna. Both art and architecture was going well till one day she could not take up the sexual threats made by her employer who happens to be another famous name in the architecture world. Disheartened, broke yet confidant that she can make Art was what kept her going till she met the MD of Cineyug Mr. Mohomed Morani by total coincidence.
He believed in her when she was losing confidence in self. He gave her a few challenging assignments in art as well as interiors which she accomplished. It was then Mr. Morani recommended her name to his brother who was looking for an energetic new artist to make an unique gift for Dr. Shahrukh Khan, the King of Bollywood.
Soon she became resident artist for Cineyug and Red Chillies Entertainment. It was Mr. Khan who introduced her this friend Mr. Salman Khan who instantly connected to her as an artist and made their first meeting memorable by painting her jacket that very night.
Pameli specializes in making portraits. Her favourite forms are acrylic on canvas and pencils on paper. She loves to experiment with oil and water based colors and different surfaces. Being an architect has always made her curious and experimental with forms, shapes and styles. Even though she loves to make traditional portraits being eclectic his what makes her unique. Her versatility is her boon and spontaneous solution to any problem makes her different from everyone else.
According to her everything has a solution and her favorite words are I Am Possible. Her goal is to leave a global footprint and reach out to those who are incapable to help themselves at the moment.
Everything you can imagine is real.
Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.
The purpose of art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.

MY RECENT COLLECTIONS
HUMAN CLOSENESS
Human Closeness is my most recent collection. The series focuses on several elements that I have been extremely interested in over the past few years. It is often the case that our most natural and erotic desires are reflected from nature. Through this collection, I attempt to use art as a unique and creative tool with which to explore different levels of realities.
