Greetings!
My name is Kyra Harris and I am a junior at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. I am pursuing a degree in Sociology with a minor in Anthropology. Currently, I am developing a focus on helping spread the word of the great opportunities studying abroad can bring students at HBCUs.
This semester I have had the privilege of being accepted for a full ride scholarship into the "CIEE Global Internship" I have the opportunity to study abroad in Berlin, Germany during the Spring of 2018 for the whole semester! My choice to study there was heavily influenced by my desire to add various dimensions of depth to my studies in Sociology. I am specifically interested in being able start developing a more sociological oriented understanding of how cultures change and how new energy can be captured and turned into economic capital. While abroad I hope to learn different techniques that will make me more knowledgeable in the global field of Sociology. Then I am able to bring back the things I have learned to be shared at my own University.
The money I am raising is a contribution towards the costs of placing me in a place that can help me progress through my education and have experience to add to my choice of career. While I can help other students that may want to travel abroad themselves.
Thankfully, I have been able to secure funding from the program itself to cover my tuition while abroad. However, there is still a gap with housing and travel that I am asking for assistance to fill. Any and every donation along with a share on social media is greatly appreciated.
I could definitely use non-monetary things such as
o Luggage
o Adapter/Converter
o Clothes (if needed)
o Camera
o Care packages (Toiletries)
o Translator
If you don't mind me even simply borrowing these things and returning them to you at the end of the semester it would be great!
