A Father who loved people

What can we say about our dad Rogelio Lebron? A wonderful husband married to our mother Isa Alvarado for 38 years and never left or quit. Through ups and down, he was always there. A father to 10 children (Shauna, Mahlon, Ishmael, Rogelio jr., Obed, Pamela, Aileen, Soraya, Emilo and Jose) that showed unconditional love and affection to every single one of them, even if he wasn’t their biological father. Everyone that met my dad instantly felt the love and passion he had for people. In his early years as a teen, my father fell into drugs and suffered tremendously living homeless for years in New York city. During those years he felt the pain of being rejected because of his appearance. He felt the despise people had towards him because of his condition. He felt the abuse and unfairness of the justice systems and how it didn’t help him at all. But then he met the Lord and became saved and he changed his life around. After he cleaned up, he met my mom in church and instantly fell in love. He conqured her heart and soon after they married. Since then, he never left her side.

Since then, he dedicated his entire life, until the day he died, to helping those in need, especially those with addictions and the homeless. He didn’t help people as a way of paying back or because he felt an obligation to do so. He helped and devoted his life to it out of love. He genuinely loved everyone around him. He loved them because he knew how it felt not being loved or wanted and he understood their pain and suffering. He knew that no money, preaching’s or sermons could help change them, but he knew that love and compassion was the only way to their hearts, so that’s what he gave. We saw our dad hug and kiss on the cheek drug addicts that were completely dirty. Our dad would bring them to our home and shower them, shave them and feed them at the table with all his kids. He would show them trust and love, something they hadn’t felt in years. He helped people change not by just preaching and talking about the love of Jesus, but he changed people through love and action. This is who he was, a man full of love that wanted everyone to feel the same love God showed him. There isn’t a person who met him that didn’t feel his love instantly. Everywhere he went, every single place he traveled, every life he touched felt the love and the connection instantly. He would pull you in, hug you, give you a kiss on the cheek, encourage you and tell you how valuable you are and treat you like family. That’s the man we knew and the father we remember.

Unfortunately, after we had carefully planned all arrangements and costs for our fathers transport and funeral, some unexpected cost have come up due to the fact that he passed away the day before the 4th of July. Because of this, his transport costs have nearly doubled due to the holiday and so has other expenses related to his preparation and permits in North Carolina and Puerto Rico. It's only because of these last minute raises in charges that we ask our friends and family to support us during this trialing times in order to bring him to his home town where all his remaining 10 brothers and sisters will be. All his friends and close family will be there to say their last goodbye. Thank you for understanding and contributing what you can. Our target goal is $3,500 which is the bare minimum needed due to the adjustments in flight cost and transport cost. Any amount beyond our target goal will be used to contribute to his funeral and burial costs. Thank you once again.
