Story
I'm raising money for Trekstok, a London based charity that supports young people during cancer treatment in all sorts of great ways, one of which is by creating a community that links cancer patients who are going through or have had similar treatment, providing support and advice that others cannon. In order to make a statement, I and a group of friends, of which a couple are cancer survivors and have used the charity Trek Stock climbed the highest mountain in North Africa. I got back from Mount Toubkal a couple of weeks ago which seems like a totally surreal experience. 4 Nights of camping on the mountain trekking 20 miles a day gradually gaining altitude and eventually summiting the 4200m peak on the last day in temperatures of up to 40 degrees with some very steep scrambles for the last few kilometers. It was at times hellish, the altitude and overall distance were absolutely exhausting, and very nearly stopped some of us making it to the top.
It really was an amazing sense of satisfaction reaching the summit, one ill never forget and having those cancer survivors with us on the mountain certainly made me feel like I was doing it all for a worthwhile cause.
We are now well on our way to raising the £60,000 target we set ourselves and I'm reaching out to friends and family for your support, a donation of any amount is hugely appreciated.
