TOMORROW! I will be re-painting the Beastie Boys Paul’s Boutique mural in the Lower East Side for the 3rd time since 2014! This mural is part of curator @leroylive ‘s ongoing efforts in the Hip Hop Recognition Project to get streets renamed in honor of important figures in Hip Hop History & get this corner renamed “Beastie Boys Square” Leroy’s efforts include getting Linden Boulevard in Queens renamed “Malik Phife Dawg Taylor Way” for A Tribe Called Quest; Renaming the corner of Fulton & St. James “Christopher Wallace Way” for the Notorious BIG in Brooklyn; “Wu-Tang Clan District” in Staten Island and “Sylvia Robinson Place” in Englewood NJ for Sugar Hill Gang. Shocked and so saddened to hear whats happening to Notre Dame! What a tragedy...my heart goes out to Paris. I think all New Yorkers understand how this feels. At least no one was inside...💔 Visited Notre Dam for the first time 14 years ago in 2005 with @deannarose2 . I remember seeing how this wasnt just a church- it was a heartbeat, a cultural point. I oriented myself around the city from that spire. As a lover of history, art history, and travel this building was one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen. The gargoyles, that spire...no words. BUT- parts of this cathedral have been rebuilt & reconstructed many times, including the spire, hopefully, they can rebuild again 🙏🏽. 😢😢 #paris #notredame #tragic
