🌻 Summer Solstice 🌻 Concluding this first week of my #MFA summer program in Paris— 5 days of a Study Cycle Symposium where we got to hear from the work of incredible artists and theorists in the dance field. It was a true honor to be in conversation with the likes of Rebecca Schneider, Melissa Blanco Borelli, Bouchra Ouizguen, and Trin T. Minh Ha, a curation overseen by our brilliant professor, Rizvana Bradley. Womxn dance makers and scholars investigating what it means to mobilize feminist, decolonial theories through dance and performance, locating the in-between space as a radical site for connection and transformation. In 48 hours I embark on a big journey, a 3-month trip to Europe where I will be completing my MFA Dance program, presenting my Thesis projects, and taking a MUCH-deserved vacation with my dear husband. •

Oh, and did I mention it’s my birthday in 5 days I’m in a deep space of reflection, feeling so much gratitude for this past year around the sun, one that saw the (explosive!) growth of the #DancingDiaspora community and its latest iteration in the first-ever Dancing Diaspora Festival.
