Got over my fear, found the right tools (pen for scale) and started putting her in the bottle. One down, twelve to go. After taking the pic, had to pop off a quad AA gun because it wouldn't fit through the neck. Doh.
Stands are built. Touched up some paint. Next stop the bottle.
I think it's got enough detail to go in the bottle. Am I missing anything
Screws added and painted. Cool.
Still need to paint them but now that my 5mm drill bit came I was able to finally get these props on there. Felt like surgery--not to belittle actual surgery though.
Oops. Okay, don't cut that part off with a knife. Sand it off with a Dremel instead.
Gave up on making propellers. Had some 3d printed.
Getting there. Anchor/chain and props still needed then it's on to some touch ups, disassembly, and reassembly within the bottle.
Mast with signal flags D, J, and T for Donald Joseph Tyson.
Tiny signal flags for the mast
Added my grandfather's guns: quad 40mm (2x) just behind the second smokestack. These guns shot their first plane down on March 18, 1945 at Okinawa. Pop was 19 years old, saving the world with the rest of his young generation.
To fit in the bottle I can break this apart into 9 pieces and reassemble from the inside using long pokies. Needs more guns and details first though.
