The Adventure Travel Conservation Fund is thrilled to play a role in supporting these important conservation efforts. To date, we have awarded over $500,000 to 27 international destinations. 2023 GRANT WINNERS
Empowering Youth to Safeguard Coral Reefs in Bayahibe
Rolling out Green Fins implementation in Bayahibe (and the surrounding area, including Punta Cana) hand in hand with dive operators and Youth Eco-Champions, enhancing resilience and protection of coral reefs and their ecosystems.
Community Rhino Conservation Initiative:
A model for community-based conservation & development
CRCI is a ground-breaking collaborative project that has brought white rhinos to communal lands adjacent to Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park, in an effort to (1) rebuild viable populations of white rhinos in the area, (2) establish a buffer zone between the National Park and communities to alleviate human-wildlife conflicts and (3) provide socio-economic opportunities for the communities who are custodians of these rhinos (through employment, education and school children visits, engagement and tourism revenue from rhino viewing fees).
A Regenerative Economy Through Community Tourism in the Mataven Jungle
Strengthen the nature tourism and cultural immersion products offered by this indigenous group, motivating the development of an economic alternative that supports processes of conservation of biodiversity and cultural heritage.
Protecting People and Mountain Gorillas Through Health Education
CTPH will develop contextually and culturally appropriate Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials for implementing a community-driven One Health model to increase knowledge of zoonotic disease transmission between people and gorillas and mitigate zoonotic disease transmission to the world’s remaining mountain gorillas and other wildlife who face a major and increasing threat of infection with zoonotic diseases.
Protecting the Living Landscape in the Doro Nawas Sorris Sorris & Uibasen Conservancies
This project will create a haven for wildlife, produce a steady stream of revenue that can be used to manage and preserve the greater landscape, and will also create employment at a local level in addition to a new revenue stream that can be used for general development projects.

2020 GRANT WINNERS
Support for the Last Remaining Elephants, Cambodia
Continuing critical care for Cambodia's last remaining captive and wild elephants, restoring their forest habitat, and supporting the indigenous Bunong community during the Covid 19 Pandemic, enabling the project to continue to attract adventurous eco-tourists both.
From Horse Guides to Conservation Stewards, Chile
Funding of this project will allow out of work arrieros (horse guides) affected by diminished tourism, to earn income while working for a much needed stewardship infrastructure project. This project will refurbish critical sensitive sections of the trail to Cochamó and provide wages to an invaluable workforce which keeps Cochamó afloat.

As part of our Fund a Ranger Campaign the ATCF contributed to the AKT Fund to support ranger during these difficult times and keep them working to protect wildlife.
As part of our Rebuilding Australia Campaign, the ATCF and its members were able to contribute to this project to help rescue wildlife affected by the 2019/2020 wildfires.
Threatened Species & Indigenous Communities,
Guyana
Community-led and owned indigenous tourism enterprises in Guyana’s hinterland, have proven to provide an economic incentive for the residents to protect their natural and cultural heritage resources as it balances the preservation of resources and income generation.
Strengthening Resilience in Chalalán Ecolodge,
Bolivia
Recovering tourism after the pandemic in the heart of the Madidi National Park will secure future income for the indigenous Uchupiamonas families and stewardship of the natural capacities of the indigenous peoples living in this highly biodiverse landscape.
Friends for Conservation & Development
As part of our Fund a Ranger Campaign the ATCF contributed to this cause to help support rangers fighting illegal wildlife trafficking in the Chiquibul Forest in Belize.
WIRES
As part of our Rebuilding Australia Campaign, the ATCF and its members were able to contribute to this project to help rescue wildlife affected by the 2019/2020 wildfires.
The Elephant Express Conservation Bus, Botswana
The Elephant Express buses educate and promote human-wildlife coexistence by safely transporting vulnerable members of the community through an elephant corridor along which elephants move between key wildlife tourism areas.
Homestay Family Training Program, Palestine
The purpose of the project is to conduct COVID-specific capacity-building training so that local communities can again welcome tourists and thereby continue to raise awareness of the need to protect the Palestinian environment, heritage, and unique communities.
Conservation Travel Foundation
As part of our Fund a Ranger Campaign the ATCF was able to support the CTF in their mission to protect the black rhino, which was mainly funded by tourism. These funds will help with the monitoring and preservation of this species.
