Which confusion is that? The confusion surrounding Singani. What’s Singani? It’s a clear spirit from Bolivia distilled from grapes. Says here on the label BRANDY. Yes, the US Government regards any spirit distilled from fruit to be a brandy. Right, okay, but how come the liquid is clear? Because it’s not aged in wood. It’s not aged at all, actually. Yeah, but I thought brandy was brown...

And THAT’S where the confusion that needs to end begins! The general public has NO IDEA what the brandy category even MEANS. They don’t know it means ANY fruit distillate, they think it’s just that BROWN STUFF. Whereas if you asked someone, WHAT’S PISCO? They’d say WELL, IT’S PISCO. They wouldn’t say IT’S A BRANDY, even though technically it is. By granting Pisco a CATEGORY, the consumer got the message: THIS IS ITS OWN THING. Confusion averted! The same should apply here, IS WHAT WE ARE SAYING.

SINGANI is the National Spirit of Bolivia, with a legacy that stretches back nearly 500 years. That’s almost longer than all the Marvel movies PUT TOGETHER!

SINGANI is made from a SINGLE varietal of grape: the Muscat of Alexandria. Pisco (again, which was granted a category OF ITS OWN under the brandy umbrella) can be made from up to eight different kinds of grape; it can even be BLENDED.

By international law, that aromatic Muscat of Alexandria grape must be grown and distilled in certain distinct regions of Bolivia at a minimum of 5200ft above sea level in order to be designated as Singani. This means a lower boiling point for distillation, resulting in a unique flavor profile. Pisco has no such restrictions, can be produced in multiple countries, and its distillation boiling point is usually, like, totally NORMAL.

Singani has both Domain of Origin AND Geographical Indication status, which sounds really cool. And don’t forget--

La búsqueda del reconocimiento Singani

Necesitamos tu apoyo, y de la gente como tú que defienden los principios de EQUIDAD COHERENCIA y CLARIDAD para ACABAR CON LA CONFUSIÓN 

¿Qué confusión es esa? La confusión alrededor del Singani. ¿Que es Singani? Es un destilado producido en Bolivia que está hecho de uvas. 
¿Pero aquí en la etiqueta dice que es un BRANDY? Si, el gobierno estadounidense considera que cualquier destilado que está hecho de frutas es un brandy. ¡Aha!! pero ¿por qué es transparente? Porque no es añejado en barriles, de hecho la verdad es que no es añejado para nada. Si pero yo pensé que el brandy era color café...

Y toda esta confusión debe terminar. Para el público en general no tiene la MÁS MÍNIMA IDEA del SIGNIFICADO de la categoría brandy. No saben que significa: CUALQUIER destilado hecho de FRUTA, entonces se confunden el licor de COLOR CAFÉ. 

Pero sin embargo si le preguntas a alguien ¿QUÉ ES PISCO? pues te van a decir ES PISCO. No te dirían que es UN BRANDY aunque técnicamente sí lo es. Al darle al pisco una CATEGORÍA PROPIA, el consumidor recibe el mensaje: ESTO ES Y TIENE LO SUYO. 

¿Entonces que pasa, por qué? Tenemos que evitar esta confusión! Esta CATEGORIA PROPIA es lo mismo que debería suceder con el Singani; ESO ES LO QUE ESTAMOS DICIENDO.

SINGANI es el destilado nacional /oficial creado en Bolivia, con un legado y tradición de casi 500 años. Eso es casi más largo que todas las películas de Marvel PUESTAS JUNTAS.

El SINGANI está hecho de una ÚNICA variedad de uva: la Moscatel de Alexandría. Pisco––nuevamente que recibió SU PROPIA categoría bajo el paraguas de un brandy––puede ser producido hasta con ocho tipos de uvas diferentes e inclusive se puede MEZCLAR las variedades.

Por legislación internacional, la aromática uva Moscatel de Alexandría debe crecer y ser destilada en la zona designadas para su cultivo en Bolivia, a un mínimo de 5,200 pies sobre el nivel del mar para poder ser designado como Singani. Esto significa que hay un punto de ebullición más bajo para la destilación lo cual resulta en ese perfil único de su sabor. El Pisco no tiene ninguna restricción, puede ser producido en múltiples formas y su punto de destilación es usualmente como que totalmente NORMAL.

El Singani tiene tanto Designación De Origen como también un estatus de Designación Geográfica lo que es totalmente bueni... Y no te olvides–– 

Okay Okay, Ya entiendo cuán especial es y todo lo demás, y puedo ver como este tema del brandy puede ser confuso e inclusive “nada que ver”. ¿Pero que quieres de mí? Yo ando ocupado. Claro! Tú apoyas el reconocimiento de Singani como una CATEGORÍA, porque los criterios establecidos de EQUIDAD Y CONSISTENCIA así lo exigen. Okay, como que me estás hablando de cerquita aquí. Discúlpanos.
