Big Things
Katora began when April met Christian. With deep roots in community – their dream has always been to offer a safe space supportive of recovery, mental health, LGBTQ+, the arts, and music. Katora Coffee is a plant-based cafe serving organic coffee and tea and is thriving in downtown Fredericksburg, Virginia. In late 2019, they opened a second location on campus at University of Mary Washington. This location is open to the public and has a more extensive menu. They have something for everyone!

Organic Coffee
Exclusively serving locally roasted, single-origin coffee & espresso by Roastology Coffee in RVA (Scott's Addition).
Loose Leaf Tea
We carry organic loose leaf tea by Adagio. Try it hot, iced or as a latte. We even make cold brew iced tea.
Vegan & Vegetarian
Non-dairy milks. Pastries. Vegan and vegetarian sandwiches. Tots and nugs. Housemade hummus. Vegan gluten-free overnight oats.
Funky Decor
Some say our decor is spooky but those who love us say we're eclectic. Most of the art is local. Come check out the graffiti.

From art battles to spoken word poetry, rap showcases, acoustic and full band performances, to workshops and meetups - our upstairs lounge is accommodating!

This place has a really eclectic vibe. The staff is great. A good variety in the menu and good for those who have altered menu requests! There is seating outside if you want to enjoy the fresh air and be part of the downtown sidewalk activity. I will definitely be going back again. And if it's a hot day, swing in for a refreshing smoothie!

Christian and April are great. One hell of a coffee shop. Basically this place is a positive-vibes mecca in downtown Fred where like-minded badasses can come together to create magic. Oh- and their coffee is incredible too 🙂

Delicious! Such a cute little place. The owner Christian (I believe that's what he said his name was) greets everybody and gets to know them by name. Extremely charismatic and welcoming and obviously cares about his community. Frequent events going to bring you back. Screw starbucks or Panera. Come here instead. Way more affordable as well!

Such a good place to vibe, soak in the local art and atmosphere, and enjoy vegan coffees! It's so unique and truly a treasure. (Plus, the chalkboard bathroom is lovely and full of hope and happiness.)

I moved to Fredericksburg from New York April of 2022.. as I got off the train my first day in town I passed by katora and walked in for a coffee.. little did I know this would become my new home. Wednesday night open mic is amazing, the staff make sure that it is a welcoming safe space for everyone:-) love you Katora ;)!

I’ve never written a review but the owner & 2 employees were so helpful & kind after there was a problem with the grubhub ordering. I was having a bad day & just a little bit of kindness goes such a long way. Love this place will be making a trip to come back:)
