Justin Timberlake confirmed on Sunday night (Oct. 22) that he will take the main stage at Super Bowl LII for the halftime show on Feb. 4 in Minneapolis, which leaves us now to only wonder about which two artists might sing the national anthem and “America the Beautiful” before the game kicks off.
Last year, country singer Luke Bryan performed the national anthem while Phillipa Soo, Renee Elise Goldsberry and Jasmine Cephas Jones of acclaimed Broadway musical Hamilton sang “America the Beautiful.”
Heading into 2018, Demi Lovato will be riding a high with the release of Tell Me You Love Me having been on Sept. 29, and her booming, soulful voice seems a perfect fit. Ariana Grande is fresh off of her international Dangerous Woman Tour and, if the NFL is again in the market for country, Thomas Rhett is currently touring off of his new album Life Changes.
Andra Day has most recently collaborated on a song with Common, “Stand Up For Something,” for the movie Marshall — choosing her would send a powerful statement about where the country was and currently is.
Vote below who you believe should be tapped next to belt out the national anthem.
