Tony Award-winning performer Laura Benanti is bringing her new comedy show back to the Minetta Lane Theatre. Be part of the live audience as the Broadway legend debuts all-new music, created with music director Todd Almond, and shares her hilariously bumpy journey from ingenue to recovering ingenue. Annie Tippe directs. Joining Laura onstage as her “Inner Demons” are Barrie Mclain and Chelsea Lee Williams (vocalists), with Todd Almond (music director) and band members Catherine Popper (bass), Clayton Craddock (drums), Dr. Edward W. Hardy (violin), Ann Klein (guitar), and Daniel A. Weiss (keyboards/guitar). The creative team includes Japhy Weideman (lighting design), Connor Wang (sound design), dots (Scenic Consultant) and Garrett Kerr (production stage manager). Technical supervision is by Hudson Theatrical Associates’ Sean Gorski with general management by Baseline Theatrical’s Jonathan Whitton.

Harlem Chamber Players: Duke Ellington: In a Symphonic Mood
Join us for our season finale concert, Duke Ellington: In a Symphonic Mood, to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Ellington’s birth! The program includes Symphonic Homage to the Duke by Damien Sneed and Yamekraw by James P. Johnson, orchestrated by William Grant Still. We will also feature Duke Ellington's Almighty God Has Those Angels, Praise God and Dance, and A Tone Parallel to Harlem (Harlem Suite), orchestrated by Maurice Peress. Additionally, there will be a special set featuring the Wycliffe Gordon Quintet, and Take the A Train by Billy Strayhorn. The concert will be conducted by Damien Sneed, with Terrance McKnight as the host. Performers include Brandie Sutton as soprano, David Berry as piano soloist, and the Wycliffe Gordon Quintet. The orchestra comprises members of The Harlem Chamber Players (Dr. Edward W. Hardy, violin).

EarShot Readings: American Composers Orchestra - Open Rehearsal/ Public Reading
Following 2024 readings with Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, Illinois Philharmonic Orchestra, and ROCO (Houston), ACO presents and performs its own EarShot Readings on June 13 and 14, 2024 at the Neidorff-Karpati Hall in Manhattan School of Music, featuring workshops with composers Malachi Brown (Statements: a journal entry), Samuel Torres (Frailejón), Sofía Scheps (demografía acústica: % / acoustic demography: %), Anuj Bhutani (After the Freeze), Madeline Merwin (Dirty Ice), and Eunsung Kim (Kaleidoscope for Orchestra). The selected composers, chosen from a competitive nationwide call for scores highlighting and celebrating the unique musical and cultural contributions of the Americas to global musical ecosystems, will receive mentorship from Marcos Balter, Curtis Stewart, and Niloufar Nourbakhsh as well as musicians of the ACO and conductor Delta David Gier. On Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 10:30am, audiences are welcome to experience the workshopping via open rehearsals, and on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 7:30pm, the ACO will perform the works in concert.

Caramoor | Our Song, Our Story: The New Generation of Black Voices
This vibrant showcase will highlight some of the world’s best-known operatic arias, art songs, and spirituals, paying homage to the eternal legacies of operatic legends Marian Anderson and Jessye Norman. Created and directed by composer, conductor, and multi-genre musician Damien Sneed, this powerful program symbolically passes the torch to two of today’s most exciting operatic voices, Justin Austin and Brandie Inez Sutton, and features works by African American composers past and present — including Margaret Bonds, Harry T. Burleigh, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson, Wynton Marsalis, Terence Blanchard, and Damien Sneed — plus works by Copland, Mozart, Puccini, Gershwin, and Strauss.
