Desafio Ecuador Rebuild&ReliefFund

On behalf of the 338 Children who benefited from having their school back, and as Director for "Desafio Ecuador" I would like to thank you for your donation to our reconstruction program for the town of El Matal In Manabi - Ecuador. Our first project which has already reached its funding goal of $460,000 is the reconstruction of the public school of the town which was inaugurated this past school year as you can see in our profile video. This school completely collapsed in the 7.8 earthquake of April 16, 2016 leaving 274 families with the worry and inconvenience of having to send their children as young as 4 to another school two hours away by foot. We started the construction of the first phase of the school in May 2017. 

We are still looking for funding to complete the second stage of the school which is the library, as well as the funding for the educational programs and equipment at the nursery and community center. 

Thanks to the incredible response we have gotten within Ecuador and the interest internationally we have also been awarded with the construction project of the community center of “El Matal” where a nursery for 60 babies will be built along with educational areas for adults and families. Here we will host programs such as literacy for adults who never finished or went to school, computer skills, family therapy, training and specialisation in plumbing, building with bamboo under our sustainable building method, fishing, cooking and to work with the community into organising any workshop which five or more people have interest in. This community center benefit
s the entire town which has 856 families. We are pleased that this project has also started and our goal is to have it completed at the same time as the school.
