After a rather extensive break from blogging this weekend’s venture to Scandinavia got my creative juices flowing and gave me a lot to write about in this new travel series that I am about to share with you.
Having fallen in love with the Scandinavian culture when in Norway a couple of years ago, my boyfriend surprised me with a trip to Sweden for my birthday and it was honestly one of the best trips we have ever been on!
With 14 islands, over 50 bridges and cute coffee shops on every corner, it’s no wonder why Stockholm attracts visitors from all over the world.
There really is something for everyone whether it’s sightseeing, nightlife or cultural awakenings – you name it – Stockholm has it.
Our Top Tips!
Really explore when you’re over there – we walked pretty much all day every day (my feet are paying the price now) but it enabled us to see so much and stumble across so many gorgeous streets and locations that we probably wouldn’t have found if we stuck to a rigid plan.
Gamla Stan – The Old Town
Adorned with winding streets and cobble stone paths this stunning location is tourist central but is home to stunning architecture, restaurants and little sun traps to sit out in and have a drink or two.

Across the bridge you will find a much more tranquil area with benches that look out onto the waterfront.

Haymarket
We stayed at the Haymarket hotel which is right in the heart of Stockholm and absolutely beautiful with its old movie glamour theme that runs throughout the venue and daily market that fills the square with stunning flowers, gifts and stalls. Situated in the hotel is an incredibly ‘Instagramable’ cafe called ‘Gretas‘ which is decorated with baby pinks, marble tables and trendy seating.

Rooftop Bars
Stockholm is packed with many rooftop bars which when the sun is shining become an instant hot spot for both tourists and locals alike. We went for dinner at Tak a trendy Japanese Asian fusion restaurant that boasts delicious dishes and glamorous almost Great Gatsby kind of vibes. After leaving the restaurant you can walk over the bridge and onto a trendy rooftop bar which has lots of outdoor seating, fairy lights, cosy blankets, DJ and a cocktail bar. Another great spot is the Skybar which is located in the Radisson Blu hotel and offers stunning views across the city.

Currency Advice
Stockholm is nearly completely cash free, meaning that you can use your debit and credit cards out there for pretty much everything – so don’t bother getting your money exchanged for Swedish Krona. We used our cards for the entire trip and didn’t need cash for anything other than buying a suitcase from one of the market stalls!
My Wardrobe for Sweden
It is well known that the Swedes are trendy, stylish and effortlessly cool, which made buying outfits for the trip incredibly exciting! With relaxed trousers and plain tops becoming all the range, I opted for this simple yet stylish look for my first two outfits of the trip.
Day 1
My entire outfit is Zara and is one of my favourite looks ever with it’s casual yet chic vibes mixed with a hint of sports luxe – perfect for travelling and achieving a fashionable airport outfit.
Day 2

This trouser and T-shirt look was very fashionable amongst the Swedes in Stockholm with many of the locals opting for a relaxed trouser tee combo and white trainers look. A staple look for any summer wardrobe. My t-shirt is from Topshop and trousers are River Island.

For the other two days the weather really started to heat up so I styled denim shorts with a River Island belt, simple Zara vest, black Zara blazer and Zara sliders for the Saturday daytime and an elegant white playsuit from River Island for the evening when we went to the Skybar.
Day 4
On our last day I wore paper bag high waisted shorts from Topshop with a white Zara vest and plain white trainers.
An Instagram Guide Essential
There is so much more I can say about Stockholm but at risk of boring you all with excessive writing I will leave you with a parting gift that will be very helpful if you are thinking about booking a trip to Stockholm.
That gift and helpful piece of advice would be to head over to Instagram and follow @visitstockholm for detailed guides and tips on everything you need to know from which rooftop bars to go to, top restaurants, events and pretty much everything there is to do in Stockholm!
Stockholm was an incredible city to visit and with its stunning landscape, subway art and gorgeous architecture, it is a city that we completely and utterly fell in love with.
