Call for applications Youth Council C5+1

With U.S. Embassy in the Kyrgyz Republic collaboration, the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) has created a dynamic C5+1 Youth Council (YC) that brings together Central Asian youth with diverse backgrounds, leadership skills, and mindsets for positive change. The YC reinforces the U.S. - Central Asia (C5+1) joint goals of the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF) Regional Dialogue, Central Asia Business Competitiveness (CABC), Transport Corridor Development (TCD), Power the Future, and Supporting National and Regional Adaptation Planning that tackles issues of common concern.

The YC is a diverse group of Central Asian youth from Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan. Youth Council gets selected in the beginning of each academic year. In October 2018, 39 new members were selected among the student population of Bishkek based on application review and interviews, gender balance, diversity and genuine interest in YC objectives.            

C5+1 Youth Council Activities for Spring 2019:
- Quiz night ( monthly event)
- Central Asian Youth Peace Talks in Bishkek and in Osh (March)
- Water Security Symposium (April)
- Youth Council C5+1 Forum (May)
- Investment Law and Sustainable Development Competition (May)

In 2016 – 2018, C5+1 YC members implemented a Media Hackathon, Two Debate Tournaments, Conference on Gender Equality, a roundtable with Thomas A. Shannon, U.S. Undersecretary for Political Affairs, on the economic and security cooperation aspects of the C5+1 platform, Two Leadership Academies, Debate Workshop on Key Populations, Strategic Management Workshop, Careers Fest for Women with unfortunate life conditions, Moot Court on international security, Leadership Workshop for orphans.
