THREADING FOR FIRST TIMERS

I'm going to recount my first time threading my facial hair off. This really only happened a week ago, and to give a little bit of background: I've never had any professional facial hair removal done before, but a lot of people I know do it regularly, which got me wanting to try it out, but never having enough guts to actually get threading or waxing done. I've always been annoyed at my upper lip hair, but I never really had a problem with my brows. I've always had a nice shape to them, but there was some excess hair growth at the top.

Fast forward to the past week and my sister comes up to me and suggested that we should get our brows done. Since I've never done it before, and have been contemplating it for a while, I was both excited and nervous about the pain. I personally have an okay pain tolerance, and *spoiler alert*, while it did hurt, it wasn't too bad.

I initially wanted to wax the hairs off, but after some quick research, I decided against it and stuck to threading the excess hair off.

When we got to the salon, I was so nervous - very unnecessary, but I was so scared things would go wrong, or it would hurt too much. There was a line up as there was only one threader in that day. We really only waited max. 5 minutes and no one seemed to be fazed at the procedure. So when it got to my turn, I told her that I had no experience with this so I had no clue to how hold my eye down or what to do. She politely smiled and just told me to put my fingers on my eyelid and to pull the skin taut. It was pretty painless (other that that one second that the excess thread got near my lashes), you feel more of the pressure applied on your skin more than the actual removal. I think the only area that felt a little uncomfortable and a little bit of pain was when she was shaping my under-brow so she had to remove quite a bit of hair. The pain subsided after a few seconds and the entire process of threading my brows and upper lip took 3-4 minutes.

Unfortunately I did have to go home and tweeze spots that the aesthetician missed, but other than that I was pleasantly surprised at how smooth the process went. I did have some redness around the areas that she removed hair from, but I didn't experience any other negative side-effects.
I will warn you that if you have sensitive skin, you may experience bumps on your skin - my sister has really sensitive skin and she had some swelling and bumps for a day, and it gradually went down.

SO moral of this story is that the pain isn't that bad, if you have someone who knows what they're doing, the process will go pretty smoothly. Will I go back to that salon? Maybe, maybe not. I think I'll probably shop around until I find one that I'm 100% with.
