Build It Blind, Skate With Your Mind

My name is Nick Mullins and I’m a blind skateboarder from Bowling Green Ohio. I’ve been passionately skateboarding for 19 years now. An accident in 2009 caused me to be put in to a pre-induced coma for a month and a half; liver and kidneys shut down, lungs turned to Swiss cheese, had double chest tubes, tracheotomy put holes in my optic nerve and destroyed my retinas completely. The doctors gave me a 1% chance to live... and somehow I pulled through. I barely walked out of hospital blind and a whopping 90 pounds but never kept me off my skateboard. Skateboarding is my meditation and freedom from the world. The gratification of rolling away from something I’ve worked so hard on is one of the things I live for... There’s no other feeling like it. Since my blindness has derailed my life on living normal and having a normal job, i’d really like to jump into my dream. That is owning a board company and traveling around to throw contests, doing fun raisers, and sharing my story to let people know just because life gets you down sometimes doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy every second of every moment an be who and what you want to be. If you’d like to follow more on my story just type my name in on YouTube or click this link https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLiksscqSksapE0Gz-LPM8frKt32mghpQX also add me on Instagram @nickmullinss for current things I’m doing throughout this process. Hope to meet you all someday, shake hands and skate together! Keep pushing!!!
