Emergency surgery for Rufus

Please help Rufus walk again!
As many of you know, or may not know little Rufus had a bad accident May 5th. While cruising to the park in the car he managed to jump from the car window while traveling at about 20 mph. I slammed on the brakes and jumped out of the car as he started limping toward me while crying out in pain. Immediately I knew he was hurt- badly hurt. A few calls later we were on our way to the vet. After some pain medication and a series of X-rays, the news wasn’t good. Rufus had completely dislocated his left hip and the only option was surgery.
Due to the trauma Rufus sustained his hip socket was ruptured and he needed an emergency femoral head resection. Surgery was absolutely necessary- without it, Rufus would never walk again. Poor little guy, him not being able to walk again wasn’t an option.
We all know emergency surgery for our fur-babies is never cheap. Normally I would never reach out for financial assistance but after recently being laid off from work, any help we receive is very much needed and greatly appreciated.
So here’s the breakdown: the initial vet cost was $500 for evaluation, X-rays and pain meds. Then the next step was the surgery itself. Factoring in anesthesia, inpatient intensive care, post-op care and an overnight stay, this cost totaled $2200. We’re unsure of how many post-op vet visits Rufus will need, but from here on out at least three more are recommended at this time. At $150 each, that’s another $450, plus additional medication he may need.
At this time we need all the help we can get. Times have been tough, sacrifices have been made but after my being laid off, I just don’t have the money.
Rufus is such a huge part of our family that we had no other option but to fix the little guy.
All proceeds from this campaign will go directly to the medical costs we’ve accrued due to Rufus’ surgery and vet bills. Any support we receive is appreciated more than you’ll ever know. Rufus is our baby and such a gift to our family. It breaks our hearts to see him suffer. The road to recover is going to be long and challenging, but restoring his quality of life is the most important thing.
