Corneas For Corey

 Corey J  is our youngest son who unfortunately got the luck of the draw and inherited this eye condition from me . His is a bit more advanced than my own. Corey is still living in Seattle. You may remember last June his “work family “organized a fundraiser as well as a planned event at his job at the Magnolia Village Pub. Their kindheartedness raised over well $5000 that paid for his initial procedure. Their help and support overwhelmed us and we remain most grateful.   Unfortunately, the need to work to pay out of pocket for the additional procedures took its toll on his vision and he had to sadly and reluctantly leave his job.  

Corey has Kerataconus a degenerative eye condition. While it typically causes blurred vision, double vision, and light sensitivity, and can usually be treated with corrective lenses, Corey is one of the unlucky ones; his corneas have scarring on them and he is losing his vision. 

There are two possible procedures that can help: Cross-Linking a none FDA approved procedure that  has been a successful treatment in Europe and Canada for decades (which he received last fall however needs additional treatment on that eye)  The other is a Cornea Transplant which he needs on the more severely impacted eye. (Once completed and healed he will need special corrective lenses. )  That transplant was postponed to allow the treated eye to heal enough to give him better vision. As you can imagine all of these are costly.  

Currently unemployed, desperately wanting to work but unable as he attempts to navigate the social service system to obtain insurance that would pay for the transplant has been daunting to say the least.

Corey is very humble and is not comfortable asking for help, so we his family are trying to help in all ways possible.  Please know that *Any* amount of money will help.

Our goal is $20K, but it's likely his medical bills could exceed that amount. The sooner he can get additional treatment, the better his chances are of stopping his vision loss, and even reversing some of the damage.
