Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Summer 2016 I badly broke my ankle and after being put back together again it is brilliant but it no longer works like it used to. I can point my toes but can't bend the other way, even to a right angle. I can walk now, but running is no longer an option. After a period of feeling sorry for myself I rediscovered a love of swimming in my local pool. Being in the water not only enabled me to exercise again but it also calmed my mind and gave me the freedom and independence I so craved.
Every child has the right to experience the joy of being held by the water and the freedom and independence that moving through it brings, even if mobility on land is more physically tricky. It builds self esteem, confidence and resilience. Life skills we all need to keep our heads above....*ahem*.....water.
Last year I discovered the wonder of open water / cold water / outdoor swimming. Its the best therapy there is on so many levels. And so here I am, signed up to swim 6 miles in a river. This is of course, a great personal challenge but also with your support, a means of helping Level Water to raise funds so that they can continue to offer free, specialist one to one lessons to children with disabilities.
