'Psycho Nhomad' is a womenswear collection inspired in a personal view of our society. Nowadays, after social networks have overtaken our lives, people are focusing more and more on their appearance losing the essence of each individual, limiting ourselves to how society expects us to live. The contemporary world is pushing us to act as a group instead of as free individuals, losing the capacity to act according to our feelings and our human nature.
If we look back in history, we see that it’s not new that human beings have been constantly restricted through the social system, politics and appearances, in order to represent it we see a clear reference on lingerie, tailoring and haberdashery garments which were used as constraints.
Through moulage, I have deconstructed each garment creating zooms of formal clothing and repeating details that constantly reminds us on this aesthetic, on how we are supposed to act not as how we want to. These repetitions suggest a ¨copy and paste¨. On the other hand, the silhouette of the upper garments is inspired on the shape of the body that nomads used to have during the prehistory trying to get closer to our roots.
In the collection I want to highlight the capacity we have to move forward and the chameleonic nature of human beings, looking for our identity, but always with the past in mind.
