A lot of money is spent on the creation of Humans of New York each year, which includes helping subjects who are in very tough situations. While I happily pay what I can with income from books and speeches, without audience support from Patreon, an entirely noncommercial Humans of New York would not be possible. I feel like HONY is most impactful
when the stories speak for themselves, so I’ve done my best to keep my voice
off the blog. But here it will be
different. This will be more of a
personal space where I’ll share my process, my thinking, and my ideas for the
future of the blog. Occasionally I’ll
ask for your feedback. Humans of New
York will remain solely about the stories of other people. A pledge of $5 a month will unlock all
the content on this page. If you can
afford to give more support, that is great but not necessary. I like the idea of having an ongoing,
intimate conversation with the people most invested in Humans of New York. I like the idea of our connection not being
dependent on the algorithms of Facebook or Instagram. And yes, I’d love to have a stable source of
funding to travel, and innovate, and grow. 
I want Humans of New York to be a lifelong body of work. And a big part of that is always being able
to find the people who care about it most. 
 

 

We’ve done a lot over the past eleven years. We’ve raised over $20,000,000 for
charitable causes around the world. 
We’ve shared nearly ten thousand stories from forty different countries—free
of charge. And none of that will
change. Humans of New York will always
be free and I’ll keep posting on a daily basis. 
Anyone who is unable to give right now will not notice a change.But if you’ve enjoyed the blog in the past,
and would like to contribute to its future,I hope you’ll consider becoming a patron.
