Do you think white sneakers are necessary for a man to be in possession of?

Eh no? Why would they be?

most of those “essential” lists are terrible...

I don't think everyone needs to own a pair of white sneakers, but if you're just starting to build a wardrobe, they can be relatively useful as you're experimenting with how you want to look.

Generally though, I think this sort of checklist way of building a wardrobe (e.g., "every man should own X") is a bad idea. You end up looking generic or with a wardrobe that you don't totally love. But sure, it's useful to have a few pieces that can work with different things when you're starting out so that you don't have to build anew every time you change direction.

I don't think so. Only if you like wearing them.

I don't own any and frankly someone could buy me the most expensive, trendy, whatever pair in the world and they would languish in my closet.

The idea of some sort of "checklist wardrobe" or "capsule wardrobe" is very in right now. I say posh to that. Buy what inspires you!

White sneakers are good if they fit your style and personality.
While I stopped wearing sneakers many years ago, if I had to wear them, I would choose the ones with museum calf.

Insistence upon owning a pair of white sneakers is sartorial pedantry up with which I will not put.

Yes.

If your lifestyle allows you to experiment with casual attire.
of all pieces you could use, sneakers are the most versatile.

however, i would not rely on white sneakers as your only pair of shoes.
truthfully, i am building up a small palette of sneaker colors.
so far i have:
Black and red
Black Camo
Black with hits of lime green
Blue
White with silver accents.

next will most likely be a bold contrast black and white. or something red.

I almost exclusively wear Jordan's and Air max's. mostly for fitment, but they do have infinite color combos. =something for everybody.

(Asics feel so good it's crazy, but hard to style)

but yes. white sneakers. belong.

Necessary? Not at all. But if the style works for you, sure why not? Run with it. And no, they don’t go with everything. There’s always a classier alternative.

No. Sneakers for me are purely utilitarian. I wear them when I run or go to the gym. Don't care what color they are or what they look like.
