Watching Giselle Norman clown around backstage and then glide onto the catwalk with a professionalism beyond her years really gave me life this season (she also sings – terribly – but with great enthusiasm). I just want to be around her and those madly symmetrical beauty marks all the time. She’s killing it in her home city – proof that nice girls don’t finish last.

You may remember her as the girl who broke the internet with that Valentino Couture look a few weeks ago, but be prepared to see Somalian model Ugbad Abdi everywhere this season. After her debut at Valentino, she went on to open Marc Jacobs in New York and has had star turns at Simone Rocha, Victoria Beckham and Burberry in London. I’ve lost count of the number of people who have called me about this girl – our editor-in-chief included – so watch this space.

I had to include AnniBelis Baez on this list because not only is she having an impeccable season (Proenza Schouler, Helmut Lang, Victoria Beckham, Burberry), she also has the most incredible personal style. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone pull off a canary yellow leather suit before! I think she has real presence on and off the runway.

Jess Maybury has been building a presence with stunning editorial work with photographers including Tyrone Lebon, Harley Weir and Jamie Hawkesworth. In these images she is more often than not partially naked – it does seem a crime to cover up those fantastic curves – but, I have to say, I love seeing her on the runway. After opening Marni last season and starring in the subsequent campaign, she looked exquisite as a part of Simone Rocha’s incredible celebration of women at her autumn/winter 2019 show. She is really one of a kind – I’d love to see more strong women like her on the catwalk.

It comes as no surprise that our December cover girl – and owner of the best high kick in recent memory (see Marc Jacobs’s spring/summer 2019 advert) – is storming the runways this season, with carefully edited appearances at all the top shows in NY and now London. I expect this form to continue through Milan and Paris, giving her a truly stellar first season.

I booked Aliet for a Vogue beauty story last week off the strength of her digitals alone. She was so luminous that on set our beauty director forbade the make-up artist to use any make-up on her. But, it was when she came in to meet us in the Vogue office that I was really affected by her story. Born in South Sudan to parents in the military, Aliet’s family moved to Uganda and then Canada to live under the protection of her aunt upon the death of her parents. Although her family is keen for Aliet to study, modelling, she says, helps her soul heal. After today's debut at JW Anderson, I'm excited to see what the future holds for her.
