Went in for a short layered cut and was super satisfied with the results. I also love that the price is reasonable. 45$ for a cut with wash. I will be coming back for all my cuts and gonna recommend to friends and family.

Made an appointment ahead of time and was quickly seated. I had a balayage and got it redone so it takes about 5 to 6 hours. The place is big and clean. All the stuff are nice and will tell you if other stuff needs to be done or treated. I went from chocolate brown to Ash gray and love it.

Not bad, just a little disappointed. Make sure you know what you are getting yourself into. I had texted ahead of time to make an appointment for Kevin, attached with the picture of the ideal color I wanted, which was dark blue. Over text and in person, they said it was definitely achievable. I showed up today and another female worker came up to me to help me with my hair. I then asked to make sure that I had made an appointment with Kevin and she confirmed that Kevin will be helping me. In the end Kevin only showed up to double check the color I wanted and said that was feasible. The female worker and another male worker proceeded to bleach and dye my hair. In the end, the color turned out much lighter than I had expected, which was okay since I assumed it was hard to really resemble the color in pictures.
However, I got home and noticed that the bell blvd branch of Xcellent had another customer the same day who got the exact same shade that I had intended initially (wish I went there instead ). I also noticed as I examined my hair closer that there were some areas that were not dyed blue(semi-patchy), so it was gray amidst all the blue.
Conclusion : I still like my hair and liked the two workers that worked on my hair, though I wish that since I had made an appointment for Kevin it would've actually been him who did my hair.
*TLDR* If you are to come, I definitely recommend going through details with them so that the shade and color is what you want. Also, definitely examine every part of your hair before leaving because it's possible that certain patches are not dyed.
P.S. I probably wouldn't return, or maybe if I do, I will probably check out the Bell Blvd Xcellent next time instead.
First picture below is the picture for the hair color I wanted, second picture is the customer's hair that I saw for Xcellent on Bell Blvd, the third picture is my hair when I got home, and the last picture is one of the spot I found that was gray and not dyed blue.
My hair was not too bad, just definitely less blue, more gray, and lighter than I had initially imagined.
Update: The blue was basically gone the very next morning (no wash). I was notified that it will become less and less blue the more I washed my hair, which was completely understandable. What baffled me was that the blue was completely gone, and in its place was gray the very next day after dying it blue. Something was wrong with their phone all day long. I'm a new customer, referred to them by a client, and tried to reach them several times, left voicemails and texts. No response. Finally got thru and the person who answered seemed completely unconcerned. I might be old fashioned but a really good response would have been, gee, I'm sorry you had so much trouble reaching us but I'm here now so how can I help you? Her response was, I don't know what to tell you, this isn't my fault, what do you want? Then she hung up on me. Not gonna even try to use this business.

Hello Ja, this is the receptionist speaking that you were on the phone with. I understand your frustration that you could not reach us but I also assured you that I did not receive any calls. At any situation where I have any missed calls, I make sure that I call back right away. When I finally did receive a call from you it was thru No Caller ID. You proceeded to say that you were texting us, which I also did not receive especially if it is through a No Caller ID. I can also assure you that I did not say “what do you want” neither did I say “it’s not my fault.” I did in fact say “how would you like to resolve this matter? would you still like to book an appointment with us now that we are connected.” But I am truly sorry if there was a miscommunication between us and you are angered. I CANNOT BE HAPPIER!!! ALWAYS 5 stars when I come here!!! I took a break from coloring my hair and really just wanted to be natural the last 2 years. But I finally decided to color it again today, couple weeks before my wedding. Came to see Wynn and he put me at ease as I was contemplating the whole process. I told him I wanted some dimension in my dark hair but still keep it super natural and that's exactly what he did.
HE UNDERSTOOD THE ASSIGNMENT !! :) Super happy with the results and he really knows what he's doing so I 100% trust him with my hair. Nov 4, 2019Previous reviewWow! Came back after 6 months because my roots were growing out and I was in need of a haircut. Was welcomed as soon as I stepped into the salon. Came in to see Wynn as he was the one that originally did my color the first time around, he is super cool so I'd always ask for him. Ava assisted with my hair this time around and she was absolutely the sweetest. I went with the same color I got the first time which was ash brown because I feel like the color suites me very well and after a couple washes it becomes even more pretty. I have no complaints as I feel like I am always taken care of here. Just all good vibes!! By the way, the salon plays great music, always finding myself singing along. Book your appointment with them if you haven't because you wont be disappointed!

Me and my sister made an appointment together early on a Monday to get our hair done for a cut and color. She's looking to go a bit lighter than her natural hair color so she did a balayage ombré and I was looking to do balayage highlights. Both our hairs have been box dyed from previous but nonetheless our results were amazing. All the staff at the salon are impeccable and super friendly. Jenny at the front desk made us feel at home by checking in to refill our water, constantly asking if we got hungry and provided us with snacks. I was serviced by Wynn & Jessica who were the sweetest! Super friendly and very attentive. They really took their time with me. I was getting extremely sleepy and tired during the process but Wynn and Jessica kept me entertained by talking to me and getting to know me. Kevin checked in throughout the whole process and let me tell you- he is freaking hilarious!! His whole personality is on another level. Me and my sisters mainly speak in English as that is what we are fluent in but we do speak some mandarin and the Wenzhou Chinese dialect. Kevin, who I believe is FJ learned a few phrases in wenzhounese and was using them with me and my sister and I couldn't help but laugh. He is truly such an entertainer but very cool and great at what he does. Wynn who mainly did my coloring did such a great job, also cut my hair. He listened to what I wanted. I expressed concern that if I cut too short I would lose some of the color at the bottom and he instantly consoled me that it won't be the case and he joking said he wouldn't have spent all those hours perfecting my color to have it be all chopped off LOL. After the long hours of hair dying, they take photos and videos of your hair after with a great set up in the back of the salon. Me and my sister are super happy with our hair color! :)

I took my little sister to get her hair done for the first time last week and I thought it came out really nice!! But it wasn't as blonde as she wanted it to be and she was shy and didn't say anything, so I booked another appointment and they fixed her hair and made it exactly how she wanted it - free of charge! I really appreciated that. My sister left the salon very happy with the results! She loves her hair!
Everyone at the salon is so nice and friendly! Once in a while I'll come here to treat myself and get a blowout because the way they massage your scalp when they wash your hair is heavenly lol. I've never left a salon happy with my hair until i came here!
Came for a consultation, and was granted a swatch. Made appointment the next week. I had box dyed hair with 2.5 yr old highlights. I wanted ash blonde/brown balayage, no red tones at all. Kries delivered!! I was so happy, I didn't wash my hair for 4 days because I was afraid it couldn't be real. It's real!! Highly recommended, I have found my new salon!! Everyone was so nice, and Emily gave the best recommendations for after care. And she plays the best music too!

Walked in and asked for a men's haircut. Spoke in English so maybe they assumed I didn't know Chinese but I could hear them trying to pawn me off to each other as they sit on the couch with their phones.

Hello Chris, I apologize if you felt uncomfortable but all the other stylists were busy at the moment. One of the stylists that walked over to you asked the receptionist who came first, you or the woman sitting besides you so she told him that the woman came first. Right after he began on the client, our other stylist went right over to you to help you out. The stylist let you know that the guy in the reference photo you showed was much shorter than you had described and his hair was more on the curly side. We apologize again, and hope you could give us another chance.
