This week’s #StaffPickSaturday was chosen by gallery owner, Robert Mann.
Mentored by Harry Callahan at RISD, Ed Sievers' focus was very much in the tradition of street photography. His early 1960’s images in cities such as Providence, Boston and New York City demonstrate a unique talent for capturing spontaneous moments in dramatic lighting. Sievers’ framed his subject in a silhouette of shadows and movement, while they were unknowingly frozen in his gaze. A significant representation of Sievers’ work will be installed at the upcoming AIPAD Photography Show, April 4-7, 2019. 📸: Ed Sievers, Untitled (woman holding cigarette), c. 1960's, Vintage silver print, 8 x 10 inches.
