When in the corparate world I would say over and over we don’t celebrate enough. We just move on the next project or campaign. And in the retail space we would quickly review stats and carry-on. Not “what would you do different” or “what have we learned for next time” The pace of life was on 3x.

Injuries suck, excuses suck more☀️🙋🏻‍♀️

The past few weeks, I’ve been dealing with many little old injuries and new injuries resurfacing. And my immediate thoughts were; why? How annoying? This only happens to me? Can’t I just be like everyone else? I’m gonna lose all my progress! And that lasted a whole 5 minutes, and then I stopped and took action. I had a 1;1 meeting with myself and wrote down what I can control.
1. Going to see my doctors, and therapies and running the scans and tests I need.
2. Listening to those professional advice of backing off from certain trainings for a while, instead of ignoring them.
2. Dialing into acceptance that this happens as an athlete who trains this amount of volume and intensity over years which my condition.
3. Accepting that I have medical issues that are priority for my health that I need to monitor instead of just pushing myself till I’m broken.
4. Focusing on dialling into my sleep.
5. Focusing on being on point with my nutrition.
6. Being honest with my coach at the gym so he can tweak my program temporarily.

My exercise consists of 3 classes per week, and I do “bits” with my clients but in all honesty I don’t do a lot then. I do however WALK everywhere and love to do a month challenge quite often ie squats/abs/press ups. .

Pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone and doing the things that others won’t, is what gets you places others won’t reach

I went for a run this morning and saw the near-200 steps and knew I was going to *have* to run them

So I did
.
Mission accomplished?
.
Nah, because I knew there was another route
.
So I stared from the bottom and ran the second route
.
No one cares that I ran both
.
It doesn’t impress or impact anyone
.
But I feel that there’s a certain drive in people to want more... and in me, it manifests itself in giving myself stupid little challenges like the second run
.
Wanting to show myself that I can do it
.
That I CAN do more
.
On that note, I’m off to breakfast show that I CAN eat more and that I WILL eat more

I’m still stuck at home with the boy and going a bit crazy to be honest. I’m also pretty disappointed about how unproductive I’ve been. But it’s been nice to cuddle my boy and comfort him. It doesn’t matter what you do when kids are sick they seem to crave their Mummy’s. 😂

During dinner last night my daughter mentioned that she wants to start training so that she can win a medal for school cross country and I told her that I will help train her so we came up with a family challenge. So we have a pretty epic driveway and the challenge is to walk up and down the driveway 20 times and see how long it takes you. We’re all going to do it once per week. As she is young she will only have to do it maybe 5 or 10 times, we’ll see how she goes. The way we’re gonna work out who wins the family challenge is who has the biggest percentage change in their time from the first time they do it till 4 weeks later! 💥

Being a stay at home mom has so many perks: teaching them everything they know from birth to eternity, never missing a "first", never getting a recap on their adorableness. “Why? Because this saved my life. In more ways than I can explain. Not only is it saving my health (hello pcos & type 2 diabetes reversal), but EMOTIONALLY its rescuing me from a lifetime of self-doubt and hatred, and FINANCIALLY it’s saving my family from a past filled with missed mortgage payments and shut off notices from the water company. This month, every bill is paid on time (and some are ahead). I’ve not had to tell my kids NO when they needed new shoes. We’ve gone out to dinner and created so many MEMORIES more times this month than we have in the last 2 years. Emergency room visit for the baby this weekend and not ONCE did I worry about the bill to come. To think I can get MY life back (mentally and physically), and by sharing this journey with the world, help other people get THEIR life back too….it’s just mind blowing.”

A big part of my marathon training was about developing self belief, visualising achieving my goal, and practicing what I would think to myself during the race. There was no ‘maybe’ for me - lining up to start the race, I had already won. .
If you want to achieve big things in your life you need to have goals and know what it is you’re working towards - you also need to tell yourself that you can do it. Positive affirmations and an ‘I’ve got this’ mindset are essential parts of enjoying the process of attaining your goals. These don’t always come easy - we are told from an early age to care for others, probably taught by our own selfless mothers that our needs are not the highest importance - we have a culture of being humble, of letting everyone feel like they’re winners. And I’m not just talking about any old humps, but these arms 😳 you guys, I have NEVER been able to see this much definition in my arms!!!

I was a college athlete, like I was #skrong lol but I’ve never been this toned 💪🏼 and yes I am flexing but even if I flexed back then my arms did NOT look like this 🙅‍♀️

It’s crazy to me- I had 2 hours of practice everyday, I lifted heavy shit for 2 hours twice a week, but I never looked like this. I used to laugh at the girls who talked about working out in their rooms, but forreal you guys CONSISTENCY IS KEY.

And not just workouts, obviously I was consistent with fitness back then, but with nutrition too! My diet was all over the place, I had cookies everyday (those caf cookies were amazeballs okay? 🍪😍😂) but I ate whatever I wanted without really thinking about it

Now i think about it. I don’t count macros. I don’t do keto or no-carb or no-fat or any of that crazy stuff because I know I could never do that for the rest of my life (if you can MAJOR props to you) I love cookies and pizza and tacos and donuts too much for that. So yeah I still have them every once in awhile because sometimes ya just need something cheesy and that’s OKAY!

Because doing something that you can *sustain* and keep up consistently for the long run is gonna be way better for you than crazy yo-yo diets changing every week & is gonna give you better results for the rest of this BEAUTIFUL life you get to live 💗💃🏻

Do you struggle with maintaining health and fitness while traveling? I certainly do. I am traveling a lot this year and trying to be better about the 4 pillars of health (sleep, nutrition, exercise, and stress reduction) when I’m away from home. Here are some tips I’m working on:

1. Prioritize sleep as much as possible - I suffer from insomnia when traveling for work and have trouble adjusting to time zone changes. I make sure to get lots of good sleep for several nights before I travel. I take melatonin before bed when I’m away and stay away from alcohol, which is a huge sleep disrupter, as much as possible. It’s best to avoid eating 3 hours before bed, but that’s hard when traveling for work. Work dinners are often late. Don’t drink caffeine after noon.

2. I pack protein bars (Beachbars are my fave - high protein to carb ratio) that I can eat for breakfast instead of a heavy hotel breakfast. Time restricted eating or intermittent fasting (limiting all food to 8-10 consecutive hours everyday) can assist with maintaining weight and mental focus. It allows your gut to rest and has many health benefits. 
3. Exercise! I have been taking advantage of the hotel gyms and trying running on the treadmill. I’m not a runner but I have been enjoying this when away to change up my routine and keep my body guessing. I also can stream workout videos in my hotel room when I don’t have time to get to the gym. MMA workouts are perfect for this - no equipment needed. 
4. Spa! I take advantage of a massage or facial when I have time and if there is a spa. I also sat in the sauna during my Vegas trip. Taking a sauna is being found to have all sorts of positive health effects, including decreasing cardiovascular disease.

When 1-2 of the 4 pillars are off during travel (for me that’s always sleep and sometimes nutrition), it’s very important to keep the other 2-3 strong. So I make sure to exercise and get some R & R in when I can. .

A fun workout you can do with friends or alone includes a dice.
Dice workout:
A)Each number is a workout routine.
1)push ups
2) pull ups
3) squats
4) leg lifts

So if I roll a 2 and a 6 I have to do 12 pull ups.
Continue until your alloyed time runs out.

I could totally let this derail my diet and fitness routine & say “screw it.”

I’ve been sick for the past 3 days....eating barely anything, to eating a sleeve of saltine crackers.....and missing all my workouts. 
_
The old me would have said, “well screw it, I’m sick...I’ll just eat all the things the rest of the week, and not workout and be good again on Monday.” Basically use it as an excuse to not take care of myself.
_
The me now knows that’s a very black and white mentality, that ultimately leads to no progress, and definitely doesn’t create consistency. 
_
So here is what I’ll now do that helps me to get off the cycle of being “on” or “off,” and that helps to create consistency. Some concepts for you to think about/implement the next time you feel you got “derailed” from your program 
_
1. Continue to eat the things I can manage with a stomach bug, even if that’s soup and crackers. (Eat the best you can given the circumstance)
_
2. Hydrate myself as much as possible, prob throw in coconut water for electrolytes...even though it’s not something I drink on the regular. (Give yourself permission to eat something out of your usual routine. It won’t derail your progress)
_
3. Honor my body and rest instead of push myself to workout (listen to your body)
_
4. As soon as I feel better, even if it’s going into the weekend, I will prioritize healing foods like vegetables, proteins, and fats, and begin moving my body in any way that feels good, not expecting myself to kill it the second I get back into the gym. (As soon as you feel “better” or back to yourself, prioritize what works)
_

Insecurities.

We all have them. I have insecurities, and still struggle with overcoming them everyday but if you let your insecurities take over, you lose yourself to everybody’s view on who you are, or who you desire to be. I have always been insecure with my body type, and especially about how it photographs. I am a thicker woman with dense muscles, so I don’t look like your typical “fitness” girl; or at least that is what my mind tells me. Where that comes from is my insecurity of what I think people think I should look like in my field of work, how ridiculous is that? We are all different, we are all unique and the way you look should not define what you do or don’t do. I work everyday to change my self talk, and to stop caring what people think, and just be true to myself, SO - stop letting your insecurities hold you back! Repeat after me:

I’m the girl who used to drink ALLLL of the things except water because I thought it was boring 🤷🏽‍♀️ and no... coffee, tea, and other liquids do not count. Just plain old water, got it? 😏 ⁣
⁣
Staying hydrating has helped my skin look and feel it’s best, I have more energy throughout the day and I feel lighter knowing I’m flushing out toxins on the reg. ⁣

It wasn’t easy to go from basically 0 ➡️ 100+ oz a day but here are some of my tips to get going:⁣
⁣
• get yourself a big water bottle and carry it everywhere! I love my @yeti but anything that’s about 20-30 oz will do since you’ll only have to think about filling it a few times⁣
• try and get 1/3 of your water goal in BEFORE work or whenever you start your days activities. the rest will fly by before you know⁣
• find a gf to keep you accountable and check in with as you chug away ⁣
