One thing I’ve learned over the last month talking to so many women, is how many have just resigned themselves to “this is just the way it is”.
No it’s not friend. I’m here to tell you, it doesn’t have to be that way.
Today Hubs and I started chapter THREE of this new 20 minute a day program! Meaning, we have only 2 weeks left. This is the phase of the program where the trainer really kicks it up a notch (I wasn’t sure that was even possible!!!) But he did and although I might have been cursing him in my head I survived and I felt like a total badass! I had a big day ahead of me and this workout woke me up and gave me the energy I needed to tackle my day! 🤸🏻♀️
So while it’s Monday and I for sure felt like staying in bed a bit longer, I know that getting up and pressing play 100% sets the tone for my day. And today especially, I wanted it to be a good day! 🙌🏻
So my advice if you’re having trouble getting going in the morning is to get a clean preworkout (my mysterious yellow liquid gold is the BOMB) and join a group for accountability. I get up everyday for me, but also for the ladies in my group. Because I know I have to check in each day and I don’t want to let them down. Works like a charm 👌🏼

The lack of motivation will only take you so far, you can make up all the excuses in the books but when you are committed to something your will power will overtake that lack.
Let’s just say today I was lacking that motivation and allowed my workout to hang over my head all day. I tried to avoid it, I tried to justify why I didn’t need to get it done, I thought nobody will know if I skip just one day! I’m tired, I’m lacking energy. And the excuses continued. Then I decided that I have showed up for five weeks straight and I have one week to go! I can do this, I can do things when I feel lack of motivation, my girls are counting on me to show up and you know what, on days like today I needed that workout probably more today than those days where I’m eager to show up. I’m proud I followed through on my commitment and that I showed up for myself!

I ran a 5k with my main squeeze today and right before we started to run I thought I was taking a picture but it was a boomerang lol I started crackin up. Sean just wanted to start the run😂😂 Sean is by far a better runner than I am and so I love when we get the chance to run together. I get the opportunity you to push my limits and do something that isn’t as natural for me. He’s able to keep his pace while I run behind him and try my best to do the same! (he always runs at a slower pace with me😊) As I was running today, I kept thinking that I was grateful I had the opportunity to push myself, to challenge myself, to do something that felt unnatural and do it anyways.
I knew I’d finish and that I wouldn’t give up and I felt dang good after we were done. I was covered in sweat and SUCCESS!
There’s always ways that we can challenge ourselves. Use those opportunities to grow into the best version of yourself. You’ll prove to yourself how dang capable you are and that you push yourself to do more and accomplish more.
You can do what feels uncomfortable and unnatural and still get through it. This is where we GROW.
What did you do today that made you PROUD! **I believe our pace was 9 minutes/mile...not my best but far from my worst!**

Day 1 complete!👏 I had every excuse going through my mind to just start tomorrow. I didn't get home last night until 3 in the morning... I had just had my very first temper tantrum toddler experience in the grocery store(SO embarrassing). My husband leaves for storm tomorrow and who knows for how long. Oh and it sure doesn't help that I haven't been consuming the best foods while I was away.
But you know what got me to press play today My girls! The girls in my group all jumped in today and seeing their posts brought me so much motivation. Thanks ladies!
I had this shirt on for 30 seconds this morning before I had to throw it in the wash because of 💩 incident from that one in the back to start the day.
Anyway! We have officially completed 5 weeks of our 6 week program, and I want to celebrate by bringing you some of my real-life truth and reflection about these 20 minute workouts:
1. They work. Don't underestimate what you can do in 20 minutes.
2. Accountability matters.
3. I have been challenged mentally in this program more than any other.
4. I prefer to exert my body using more weight focused programs.
5. I pushed hard even though it hasn't been my favorite.
6. See number 2.
7. I still crushed my workout this morning, because the trainer motivates like NONE OTHER.
8. 5 weeks FLEW by-- even with ups, downs and possibly experiencing seasonal depression, checking in with my girls everyday, made it fly by.
9. My nutrition was great some weeks, and completely sugar loaded on others.
10. This program prompted me to dig deeper in that area, and call myself out on some habits I thought I had conquered.
11. I won't be in love with every program that comes out, but I will always accept a challenge.
12. Fridays workout this week is going to be an hour, and I'm fearfully excited about it 😂 #spoileralert
13. I am stronger than I was 5 weeks ago.
So--for this program, I am so grateful 🙌🏼, and as for my accountability partners, I am so PROUD!! Starting March 4th, I will be working through a program focused on lifting, (but not giving up these 20 minutes completely because again, the motivation can't be beat)

I also struggled through my workout, procrastinated on the couch for an hour, ate a lot of treats this weekend, and am feeling very bloated. .
Guess what I’m a health coach and I have STRUGGLES! But what I’ve learned is that my struggles and failures are what attract others to join me, because if I was perfect then I would be living a fake and unrealistic lifestyle. .

So these are results from doing almost 6 weeks of a 20 minute program with @shaunt & you know what I’m doing it again but mixed with my other man @joelfreemanfitness because I saw great results from that program too that is only 4x a week 🤷🏼♀️
I finish this 20 minute, 6 week program on Saturday & my new group is starting on Monday (2/25) that is combo of these two programs 😳but if you want to start your journey with other programs, no worries, we have a kick ass group for that too because accountability & people that cheer on & motivate others are my jam 😍🙌

Do you find yourself constantly making the same mistakes... Me too! We all do. So if you want to make sure you move forward and break that cycle of repetition, obviously somethings gotta change.
How to make sure next time doesn’t look like the last time:
• OWN IT- make peace with your past by owning your piece of your past. Quit blaming it on others. It’s your life, not theirs. They didn’t decide how you reacted. That was all on you.
• RE-THINK IT- don’t conform. Embrace your individuality and transform your way of thinking to bring about a better future. Again, this is your life, not anyone else’s. You don’t want what others want out of life, so why do you care what they think
• RELEASE IT- learn to forgive! Forgiveness is simply giving up the hope that things would’ve happened differently. Whether it’s yourself or others you need to forgive, do what you need to do to make that happen. Forgiveness doesn’t have to be a big ordeal. It can simply be mentally letting go of that resentment.

Using a day off from teaching to work on my other “job” which is actually becoming a huge passion of mine. Checking on my challengers, making sure meal plans are set for the week and shared with them, participating in accountability groups to help others and support our fit family has become so important in my day to day life. It helps me stay on track and has driven me to share this passion with others. This is the most comfortable “office” I’ve ever had. And it beats grading papers, which I will finish later tonight. 😉

Monday is the "new year's day" of every week. We are given the choice to make that week count, begin healthy resolutions, and feel confident in who we'll choose to be from now on. If we get off on the wrong foot on Monday, it can feel like our whole week's groove is thrown off. The F*ck it mindset can set in if we aren't careful. This is where we roll our eyes and remember what mama said every morning growing up, some version of- "It's your choice whether you have a good or bad day". Picture for a moment that this was common knowledge to the world, that everyone took responsibility for the state of their lives. When people asked how you were, your response would transform from, "I'm okay. My boss has been making me stay late, the kids got me sick, and I gained a bunch of weight during the holidays. but I'm pushing through haha!" to "I'm okay. I've chosen to put off taking care of myself for so long that I'm started to feel the side effects and it sucks. I really don't feel well in most aspects of my life right now." -pretty harsh huh but it puts things into perspective, because the latter response is the truth, and the former is a combination of denial, poor outlook, and falsely placed blame. "Living our truth" has become this kind of corny, overused statement that's easy to make fun of because we don't get it. Like, if we aren't outwardly lying to others, then aren't we living our truth Nope! You don't have to outright lie to avoid living your truth. It's better explained that you simply aren't living the full expression of your potential, you aren't living in your highest excitement, you are living life through a blurry lens. But it doesn't have to be this way any longer! Let's make a collaborative choice to live our truth, wake the eff up, and make every Monday a day of courageous excitement. I shared this on my stories a few weeks ago & I had a handful of people reach out asking what I put in my green smoothies so I figured I’d just share with everyone!
So what works well for me is, a large handful of spinach & kale, 1 cup mixed berries ( I switch between the berry mix that has strawberries , blueberries & blackberries & the other mix that has peaches, pineapples & strawberries) 🍓🍑🍍then I add water 💧 & a little almond milk, sometimes I add chia & hemp seeds & most of the time I’ll add one scoop of protein powder(brand mealeluca)
Benefits I’ve seen are my skin & hair health overall is improving, more energy, & less digestive issues!
Personally I think they taste great & there are so many health benefits to consuming dark leafy greens like spinach & kale daily.
