Still loving the sponge wall! By the way, do you know how hard it is to take a picture of a mirror and not actually be in the picture Is there a trick or something I don’t know about I was squatting in the doorway with the door open while Kristian kept running outside to catch the cats 🏃 Super cute sight to see
Also, I know it’s probably impossible, but please try to ignore the boob light. It’s still there haunting my dreams
It’s a journey, not a race.
I’m here to give you permission to take things slow. Rome wasn’t built in a day. And even with an army of contractors working round the clock, if you’ve ever built a house you know it’s not a quick process either.
So why are we so hard on ourselves to make it a home so quickly Speaking for myself, it takes me a good while, years even, to figure out what I want in a room - what colors - even down to visualizing the exact piece of furniture I’d like in this corner or that. I Pinterest with the best of ‘em, I have carts all over the web holding items I love. Slowly, I add a piece here and there.
It’s easier on the budget, but I gain something from it, too. More appreciation for the process.
I painted the stripes in here soon after moving in. Then hated them. Were they to beige for this house I just didn’t love them.
Then, I refinished these solid wood chairs, which we bought new as newlyweds. But I learned I don’t have a passion for refinishing furniture 🤷🏽♀️ and the table they came with was to small, to add the leaf it was to square for this space. So I gave up.
Then my mother in law found this rug for her house. I loved it! Low nap for under a table, velvety soft, so many dark, rich but neutral colors - perfect for play doh playing - thanksgiving hosting tables! She saw I loved it so much she gifted me one for my birthday.
And suddenly, the stripes made sense! They worked for this space.
I’ve been hunting all year thrifting resale shops and sites for the perfect table. The reveal will be this week, good or bad - we shall see!
The point of this novel Anyone still here 🦗 Bueller Bueller (Little movie trivia for ya). I’ve come to love my space, one single decor element at a time. I’m taking it slow. And that’s okay. I dare you to try it, make one small seemingly insignificant change and watch your home start to reflect YOU more. ❤️
