Been on a salad kick lately... relaxing having dinner on the porch tonight. Salad is tossed spring mix, tomato, cucumber, red onion, olives, @manitobaharvest hemp seeds, @primalkitchenfoods greek dressing + @wholefoods wild salmon. 🍃 .
What’s your favorite through it together meal!
Why should we eat the rainbow 🌈🌈 I'll tell you why 👇
Red 🍓 : You've heard of pesky free radicals These can destroy collagen and DNA and attack certain elastin fibres that keep your skin firm. Red food's are hear to rescue, and they help rid the body of free radicals
Orange 🥕: They contain and alpha and beta carotene which helps protects the body of cancer, and converts vitamin A in the body
Orange/Yellow 🍍🍊: This is all your naturally sweet fruit that we love so much. They contain beta cryptothanxin, which helps all your bodies cells talk to one and other
Yellow/Green 🥬🌽: The yellow green tint means they contain carotenoids, lutein, and zeaxanthin that reduces degeneration that comes with aging
White/Green 🥂🥒 (white wine 😜) : anti tumour properties, especially the family of onions. They all contain antioxidants, which defend your cells from damage
Green 🥒🥦: They contain chemicals which contain indoles, which help ward of cancer by inhibiting carcinogens.
Red/Purple 🍆🍓🍎: Two words; Heart health. Antioxidants that prevent blood clots.
Now some of the colours work together synergistically to have a more powerful effect. Which is why you should eat your rainbow 🌈
The more you eat or consume, the more anti inflammatory, detoxifying, healing compounds your body will suck up.
Colour is the language of the plant kingdom. So incorporate an array of colourful plantfood into your and your families diet ✌🙌 #veggies #fruit #Colour #eattherainbow #food #foodforthort #nutrition #plants #wholefoods #learn #knowyourbody #Antioxidants #nutrients #phytonutrient
A simple lesson is think before you act... why .
A person selects foods for a variety of reasons. Whatever those reasons may be, food choices influence health. Individual food selections neither make nor break a diet’s healthfulness, but the balance of foods selected over time can make an important difference to health. For this reason, people are wise to think ‘nutrition’ when making their food choices. What is right for the body and what does it specifically need right now in real time to get the most beneficial nourishment .
Food for thought! .
Shredded chicken breast and potato salad...
Made healthy! 🙊
. . .
I add in some fresh fruit (like black grapes, pomegranate or granny smith apples) before eating as it gives the Greek yogurt, limes and tarragon flavours more of a kick. 🤤🤤
Who else has an addiction to adding fruit to their salad 🍉😜 ...... #Loveforhealthy

This is Chaga, the most antioxidant rich food on the planet. Chaga concentrates betulinic acid, a powerful anti-inflammatory compound, from the birch trees it grows on. Coupled with immune boosting polysaccharides, this medicinal mushroom makes for an amazing anti-inflammatory, especially for inflammation caused by autoimmune disorders like Chrone’s and arthritis. Most Chaga products out there are extracted from myceliated brown rice or oats and are absent of betulinic acid. Only wild grown Chaga contains this incredible compound. We sustainably harvest our Chaga from the temperate forest of North America and dual extract them with organic grape alcohol and purified spring water to deliver to you the most potent, concentrated anti-inflammatory substances. Check out the links in our bio for more information on Chaga, our dual extracts, and discount codes. We are incredibly grateful to nature for our bounty today. #foraging #chaga #mushroom

MYTHS ABOUT THE BEST TIME TO EAT FRUIT-
1) Always eat fruit on an empty stomach - eating fruit with a meal can slow down the emptying of your stomach but only by a small amount. This is actually a good thing as it may help you feel more full which will make you cut back on calories.-
2) Eating fruit before or after a meal reduces its nutrient value - your digestive system is more than prepared to digest & absorb the nutrients from fruit whether its eaten on an empty stomach or with a meal.-
3) If you have diabetes, you should eat fruits 1-2 hours before or after meals - for the majority of diabetics, eating fruit on an empty stomach isn't advisable. Pairing fruit with a meal or snack is "usually" a better choice.-
4) The best time of the day to eat fruit is in the afternoon - there is no evidence or logic behind the idea that fruit should preferably be eaten in the afternoon. Fruit is a healthy choice, no matter what time.-
5) You shouldn't eat fruit after 2pm - eliminating fruit after 2pm has no benefits & doesn't affect your weight. Eating fruit is a good idea at any time of the day.-

Health 4 Life Australian Natural Macadamia Nuts
Macadamia nuts are high in healthy fats and may help those trying to lose weight. One serving of macadamia nuts also contains dietary fiber, protein, manganese, thiamin, and a good amount of copper.
The fat content of macadamia nuts is higher than that of other popular nuts such as almonds, cashews, and walnuts.
More than 75 percent of the fat that macadamia nuts contains is monounsaturated fat, which has health benefits. These nuts also contain specific kinds of monounsaturated fatty acids (MUFAs), which are not readily available in many other foods.
Studies have found that eating tree nuts, including macadamia nuts, can lower the risk factors for heart disease.
Macadamia nuts contain protein, high amounts of beneficial fats, and fiber. Together, these nutrients can help a person feel full for longer.
The fat takes longer to digest, and protein and fiber help prevent large blood sugar changes that can make a person feel hungry
Macadamia nuts contain just over 1 g of natural sugar, and they are a low glycemic index food. With their many health benefits, macadamia nuts can fit into any healthy diet.

RAW CHOCOLATE RASPBERRY LAMINGTON SLICE
Recipe From Swoon Food
Chocolate Lamington Base
2 cups Health 4 Life Nutrition Organic Desiccated Coconut
185g Health 4 Life Nutrition Pitted Dates
6 Tbsp Health 4 Life Nutrition Organic Raw Cacao Powder
1/2 tsp vanilla powder
1/4 tsp Health 4 Life Nutrition Pink Himalayan Salt
1/4 cup coconut oil
2 cups (235g) fresh or frozen raspberries
2 Tbsp rice syrup
2 Tbsp Morlife Organic Chia Seeds
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup Health 4 Life Nutrition Organic Desiccated Coconut
1.Line a small brownie tin (approximately 20cm x 20cm) with baking paper.
2.To make the base, gently melt the coconut oil by placing in a heat proof bowl set over a pan of steaming water with the heat turned off. Meanwhile, place the remainder of the base ingredients into a food processor and blend until smooth. Add the melted coconut oil, pulse until well combined and the mixture comes together. Press the mixture into the lined tin and smooth the top. Place in the fridge while making the raspberry layer.
3.To make the raspberry layer, gently melt the coconut oil by placing in a heat proof bowl set over a pan of steaming water with the heat turned off. Place the raspberries, rice syrup and chia into a high speed blender and blend until smooth. Add the coconut oil and blend to combine. Spread the raspberry layer evenly over the chocolate lamington base and smooth the top. Place the tin in the freezer to set up for approximately 30 minutes. You’re aiming to set the raspberry jam, but not completely freeze the slice.
3.Remove the slice from the freezer and sprinkle generously with coconut. Use a sharp knife to cut the slice into squares. Store in a sealed container in the fridge for up to 5 days or in the freezer for up to 2 months.

Don’t forget we are open until 7:00pm tonight so you will be able to pick them on the way home and have it made for Friday afternoon tea.
Don’t make these common skincare mistakes!
1️⃣ Not wearing sunscreen-
Sunscreen isn’t just meant for the beach! You should be applying sunscreen every morning before you head out the door! Cumulative sun exposure over time contributes to skin aging in the form of fine lines/wrinkles and increases your risk of skin cancer!
Using a harsh acid daily or scrubbing your face vigorously with a powered brush can result in skin irritation leading to redness, increased oil production, and more acne! Limit exfoliation to 1-3 times per week.
3️⃣ Sleeping with makeup-
I don’t care how tired you are, never go to bed with your makeup on! Doing so will worsen acne and clog pores. In addition, don’t forget to wash your pillow case weekly!
4️⃣ Throwing the kitchen sink (or skincare cabinet) at your face
Having a 20-step routine with a bunch of serums and creams is just a waste of your money. There is nothing wrong with having lots of products, just don’t use them all at once. Not only is this excessive, certain ingredients when mixed together can irritate your skin. “Keep it simple stupid”-my famous saying. Lol😄
5️⃣ Skipping a moisturizer-
Many think that if you have oily skin, you aren’t supposed to use a moisturizer. A common reason for excess oil production is because the skin is dehydrated! If your acne prone, just choose a “non-comedogenic” moisturizer.

Continuing with my SUN theme this week, Carotenoids are powerful plant helpers when it comes to sun damage prevention. I apply them to my own skin everyday, by way of our whole plant products.
Carotenoids have an oil affinity and are found mostly in the lipids of plants. They have the ability to absorb both UVA and UVB rays. Carotenoids reduce UV induced lipid oxidation on both the skin's lipid barrier and cellular lipid bilayers.
Carotenoids, true to their name, are typically in high doses in plants that are orange, yellow or red. Sea Buckthorn, Rosehip, Calendula, Cranberry, and Pumpkin are a few of the plants that we utilize that are high in Carotenoids. We don't use isolated carotenoids, because just like with everything else, I believe that the whole plant when used as nature intended, is the most potent medicine possible for our skin. Plants contain other helpful antioxidants than just carotenoids.
Some of our most Carotenoid rich products are our: Sun Serum, Sun Body Oil, Antioxidant Serum, and Day Balm. These are also my absolute must wear products during the summer months. During my vacation last week, I discovered a new found love for our Day Balm, which I felt was a perfect addition to my sun damage prevention ritual. Our Serums absorb quickly, which is important for antioxidant activity. But our Day Balm lingers on the surface just long enough to offer additional protection.
My current summer ritual:
1) Cleanse with Support Cleanser.
2) Hydrate generously with Hydrating Elixir II.
3) 4 drops Unburden Serum.
4) One additional Elixir spray.
5) 1/2 pea size Day Balm.
I am so happy with the results of this specific combination! My skin tone is more even, less inflamed. It’s plump, supple and soft.
What are your skin goals Let's do this FitSkin Journey together! Results will follow consistent treatments and isn't she gorgeous 😃😘
Infuse your own olive oil 🌿 use your own fresh herbs or a essential oils such as rosemary, basil & thyme 🌱
thanks for the idea @waitingonmartha
We are obviously huge fans of our superfoods and we know that you are too! Here’s a little peek at what we keep stocked in the cupboards. If you are new to starting your collection of nature’s vitamins, we suggest starting slowly and adding one new food at a time. Cacao powder is our top-selling superfood so this is a good place to start (assuming cacao works for you and your specific chemistry). Add this into your smoothies, baking, coffee or even make healthy hot chocolate from it!
We also love our Mountain Salt and would highly suggest swapping this out for table salt that may be lingering in the house. Mountain Salt is filled with incredible doses of vitamins and minerals and helps to alkalize the body, unlike table salt.
It’s little things like this that will make a huge difference in the long run.
What’s your go-to GY superfood We would love to create a discussion in the comments about your faves!
Fun fact: did you know that pomegranate trees can live for over 200 years 😮
