I've noted on many occasions that the amount of stimulus I can tolerate seems to change. I've begun to wonder if I've been discounting internal stimulus as part of the total load. From day to day, my body's reactivity changes dramatically, from how much I go into panic mode, and what might send me there. It changes so much that I gave up tracking it years ago. Now I get it, I think. From visual clutter, to worries, to amount of available GABA, to news cycles...it all adds up. Today it was Tea Tree oil. But the smoothy, no problem. Maybe my skin has a threshold too. Oh boy. I know I'm a "Highly Sensitive Person". I'd already been informed, disdainfully, a good 10,000,000 times before it ever became a recognized term. It does help to know that I can physically declutter my field of vision & lower the overall load. I think I could do a lot more to minimize the impacts around me, as I can only wait for GABA's return.

Today I'm grateful for my therapist who has talked with me through more difficult moments this year than I care to count. 
I've seen a few therapists over the years and they've all been helpful, but I've formed a special bond with my current therapist. She gets me and I feel safe opening up to her about all my inane fears and personal stories. 
I found this therapist in the spring of 2018 when I first started having anxiety attacks again. I searched through my health insurance for someone close by and was incredibly lucky to find her. You never know with health providers...they've all gone through the training, but when you're searching for someone to take care of you, to take your life in their hands, you're looking for more. It's about your life, and in my case my brain, and there are few things more intimate than making that kind of a connection. So I know I'm lucky to have found an amazing therapist on my first try. 
At first I saw her a couple of times a week, but then I went into the hospital and then an outpatient program, during which time I couldn't see her because insurance wouldn't cover both. In September after I got out of the hospital for the third time I decided not to do another outpatient program and instead to see my psychiatrist and therapist regularly. I started seeing her two or three times a week. In the beginning my parents would come with me because I was so uncomfortable being alone and had a hard time expressing myself without crying. Over time as I got better we reduced to once a week, and now I see her every other week. 
This is a person who in very little time has gotten to know my hopes and dreams, my fears and insecurities, my background and my outward persona. She remembers details from previous conversations that I wouldn't expect. She asks poignant questions and helps me think through my challenges. I've had so many "Aha!" monents in her office I've lost count. She looks me in the eyes when I speak and I can tell how much she cares. 
I'm so grateful for my therapist and I hope to stay with her for a long time.

Man it felt good to be back in the gym. I have been out for over TWO weeks & I felt it. Before Ryan got sick, I was going to the gym & running religiously. I never missed a day. Then Ryan got sick. Bad. It is also the reason I haven't been around as much on social media. My days have been spent checking stools, cleaning vomit & going to millions of medical appointments. ⠀
⠀
But what I realized, in those moments, I should have found a way to workout. I could have done home workouts, gone later in the evening, found a way to do something because I felt like absolute crap. My energy was low, my mind was in a dark space & my anxiety was at an all time high. And while I was busy, there were moments & days I could have fit in a quick workout, but I used Ryan's illness as an excuse to eat like garbage & not workout. And man I am paying for it. ⠀

Working out is a privilege. It is a way to honor our bodies. It relieves stress & it clears that mental fog. Working out is the most underutilized antidepressant & anti anxiety medication out there. In hard times, it makes sense to get a good workout because it can help with your mindset. ⠀

After today's workout, I was super happy & energized. People were asking me why I was so happy. The only thing that has changed besides Ryan getting better is I worked out. Working out is so crucial to your health & mental wellbeing. ⠀

I feel the same way I did before my meds. Tired, easly irritated over little things, constanly worrying about everything. Things beyond my control stressed me out daily. •WHAT TRIGGERS YOUR ANXIETY? •
Stop apologising for things out of your control . The thing with anxiety is although know your overreacting it still takes over and it consumes you.
My anxiety gets triggered by small things - I worry about being late even with plenty of time - I worry about my house being clean - I worry about organisation 
Do you See a pattern? When I write this out and read it , it seems like I’m more worried about people’s opinions of me , I’m worried about offending others .... it seems more about everyone else than me.
Today’s remind is this
- you don’t have to apologise for things out of your control
- no ones expectations of you are higher than you think .
- stop over analysing every little detail
- your not a burden - no one is perfect !
- it’s really not that big of a deal 
Take a deep breath start again
stay true to yourself and remember that we are our biggest critic , we may not realise it but we are , and those who do judge you.... they aren’t worth your time 🧡

In 2015, I flew into my own kryptonite in a crash and burn of epic proportions. I went from someone who “had it all” to unemployed, divorced, single Mom, buried in the throes of severe mental illness. ⠀

Now, I use my story and all of the lessons I have learned (and continue to learn) along the way to help benefit other leaders, humans and organizations; not only encouraging them to avoid my path, but also to help them break stigmas, face fear and motivate them to build the habits, skills, processes and systems that will accelerate their path to well-being, sustainable purpose and maximized potential.
