"...giving all of the individuals involved in the crime of human trafficking long prison sentences sends a message to people who would victimize the next child that very serious consequences await them when they are caught." A great article about how those responsible for sex trafficking are being held accountable more than ever. #stopsextrafficking #hope #DallasNews #artistsforchange
Actually, I had a Christmas theme in mind when working on the red pick-up. It turned out differently... but the Xmas theme is still on! This is for Assignment 2 “Colours that fit” for #drawpaintclickillustration with @tutorbill
"Kids have access to the entire world and therefore the world has access to them. That's what's so scary." An article reminding us of the dangers of social media when it comes to sex trafficking. Become a social media detective by downloading your child's apps, learn how to use them, and always stay in touch with your children.

the universe keeps on randomly throwin me together with castmembers of my fav childhood tv show, #allmychildren, and i couldnt be happier 'bout that 😁@cadymcclain is an amazin actress and an equally as talented director...currently workin on a really important film project with @juliaverdin and #ArtistsForChange about #SexTrafficking in #America...its so hard to believe that this kind of stuff actually goes on in this day and age but its a major problem in many countries including the US that really needs more attention...according to #unicef, nearly 1.2 million children, starting at as young as 5 or 6, are sold and trafficked every year for sexual exploitation and america holds the title for the second highest destination in the world for trafficked women...whaaattt how in the hell is all this freakin possible i am so disgusted learning these facts but we all need to be more aware of this atrocity and do all we can to put an end to it....kudos to @afc_la , cady and julia for trying to shine a much needed light on this subject...u sparked the fight in me for this cause!!! 💛💛💛 #EndHumanTrafficking #ChangeNow #StandUpForHumanRights #EndItMovement #HUGGitOut
VoteVoteVote – it matters!!! If you’ve driven recently on the Indiana Tollroad near Gary heading to Chicago you may have noticed this billboard which was funded by ForFreedoms. Uncertain what that was, though moved by the billboard and the opportunity to have experienced it, I discovered this is part of a larger arts initiative to bring 52 artist-designed billboards, bearing thought-provoking message to all 50 states, plus Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico during this election season. Co-founded by artists Hank Willis Thomas and Eric Gottesman - their mission reads, “We believe citizenship is defined by participation, not by ideology. Through non-partisan nationwide programming, we use art as a vehicle for participation to deepen public discussions on civic issues and core values.” It also states that their inspiration came from “Norman Rockwell’s paintings of Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Four Freedoms (1941) – freedom of speech, freedom of worship, freedom from want, and freedom from fear –“ all of which we continue to struggle with today. So let’s remember artists ... we have strong voices! Be heard and always keep moving the discourse forward! #forfreedoms #hankwillisthomas #ericgottesman #vote #votevotevote #artistsforconservation #artistsforpeaceandjustice #artistsforchange #artforfreedom #artforchange #artforconservation @forfreedoms #50stateinitiative
This Flashback Friday pic is inspired by @tmoms recent post. Two(!) years ago I participated in #YesWeVote: A photo series featuring local Philly artists (📸: @shotsfired215, pins by @lowlvl) and a discussion on why we intended to vote in the 2016 presidential election. I remember feeling terrified at the thought of trump winning. I felt like the country wasn't taking him seriously. He felt like a threat. He was a threat. Fast forward 2 years and things are worse under his administration than I could have possibly imagined back then. Tuesday is our chance to limit the power trump's boys have over our government. Democrats are not perfect. Not by a long stretch. But we've got to get our heads out of the sand (or clouds, independent voters) and vote these republican motherfuckers out of office. The only way to do that right now is to vote Democrat. Please join me. #midtermelections #whyivote #artistsforchange #takecareofeachother #takebackthehouse #votethemout #phillystreetart #phillyartists
I really need to take a moment to acknowledge everything I have learned in the past couple weeks. I have been working on Spring Awakening, playing all the Adult Women in the show. When I first was cast in the role I didn’t understand all I was about to experience. These women having to make decisions and choosing when to listen to the teens has really opened my eyes. Nothing hurts more when I weep at the grave of someone I’ve lost because of the decisions I’ve made. This poignant show hits so many relevant topics but the one that hits me the hardest is suicide. Depression and suicide has affected so many people in my life. All of this to say that ALL people should be taken seriously. I was recently in an experience where there was a threat and it was taken seriously. While it was scary in the moment it was incredibly worth it to be taken seriously. I URGE everyone to LISTEN to each other, not just when things get serious. Really listening is something that has been lost and in a world with so many social issues listening, connecting and taking the time to understand is so incredibly important. These things are so important to me and my family. I would like to take a second to recognize the work my brother is doing in this field developing his non-profit TalkAboutDepression.org trying to change the way people can access help. Please know that someone is always there for you and that I will be there for anyone who needs it any day or time no matter the situation. Lastly I encourage anyone in the NYC area to come see this beautiful production (this coming Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday) I believe that art can really create change and touch people in unique ways. The incredible artists that I have been surrounded with have truly put in all of themselves to tell this incredibly important story. Lastly, LISTEN to everyone who needs to be heard, KNOW that someone is always there and LEARN from everyone and everything around you.
