It feels so rad collaborating with artists of all different mediums and expressions from all over the world- especially those that I have never met before in person prior to a digital social media encounter.
Abagail aka @heart.dancer is a dancer based in LA that specializes in West African style of dancing. We met to shoot together while she was on a class teaching tour through Colorado. Within the few hours we spent hiking, talking, and shooting it became quite apparent to me how highly we each regard our own art form as methods to healing every individual soul. Abagail and spoke about how she perceives through dance and expressing our uninhibited selves we can liberate ourselves from the prison and shackles of shame and conformity that are developed and imposed by this society and culture.
On our own personal journeys to liberation and freedom, we are each equipped with special gifts, passions, curiosities that more often than not hold the key to our own Truth. .
After photographing for a short while I was personally convinced to the beautiful visual aspects of dance, as well as to the storytelling capabilities that are communicated through bodily movement...
What do you guys consider as your personal keys to healing and liberation It's interesting to me how much this dialogue is able to come to the surface via social media, and how we are able to empower and affirm one another's journeys as well as inspire for more. What do yall think 🌄💃🌊
