I am 2 weeks away from moving into my new studio and to say that I am excited is a HUGE understatement!
One year ago I left my old studio...a beautiful 1200 sq/ft space that was my creative playground...my happy place. But I left that space and the safety of everything I “thought” I knew for a new city, a new life and a new beginning. I was scared shitless. I ugly-cried every single day for months. Some days were so awful I counted the hours until bedtime, simply needing the pain go away for a few hours. •
Without a studio, or a clue about my future, I created and painted in any space I could find. After a few months, I found a new home and turned my one car garage into a studio. It was tiny by comparison to my old space, with no heat or AC. But it was mine. And little by little, I used that space to paint and to heal.
But friends...it’s 103 effing degrees right now in beautiful Austin Texas. While I’m grateful for my garage studio, I’m an artist, not a damn cactus, so I’ma need me some AC to do my thang. Luckily I have a friend with a gorgeous studio who invited me to come paint these last few HOT AF months.
Now, 1 year later, I no longer cry every day. I laugh & dance on the daily. Yes I’m still healing and growing but am grateful AF for my experience.
@glennondoyle has a saying: “First the pain. Then the waiting. Then the rising.”
My new studio represents my rising and I’m bursting with gratitude. •
Wherever you are, I see you. Don’t stop creating. It’s so important. YOU are so important.
I love you. Now go play!😋🌸🎨

So I’ve really made it a priority to continue my education as a stylist and because of that I’m seeing huge results in my corrective color clients and confidence in handling anyone who sits in my chair.
This technique was taught to me by @caralroq for @trademarksalon and @goldwellus
First I used basic application of #goldwellsilklift strong and 20.
Then hit the band with #blondingcream
Then resaturated to break through yellow and did a bond pro treatment to help insure the integrity of the hair after bleaching.
Once at the bowl I cleansed the canvas with #elumenlock and toned with a watered down formulation, which in my eyes was absolutely a perfect way to avoid over toning.
All in all, good hair requires patience and not skipping any steps along the way.
New illustration today—an olive branch! 🕊 This was so much fun to draw that I think I may do another one soon.
My apartment is covered in gold foil — totally worth it! I think I’ve found a decent method to my cement madness: one week dedicated to pouring pieces, the next dedicated to design (handpainting, foiling, etc.) and website updates. And repeat until I come up with a better method! So far it’s keeping me focused and sane as well as keeping the mess in one area of my little apartment at a time. Look for new items in the shop this weekend!
