Doing live art in front of an audience is equal parts daunting and thrilling. I’ve been lucky to have the chance on a few occasions, including this party over in San Francisco last year with @g2crowd. I always love chatting to people who are interested in my process.
I think I might bring back that moustache too. 👨🏻
More underpainting today - started this one last night. I've set up studio in the living room today, taking refuge from the 40+ degree heat... Got to love painting in front of the aircon!
Acrylic on wood panel. 30.5 x 30.5cm.

In a bid to be more ‘colourful’ I came up with this, still pretty earthy but as colourful as it’s gonna get, I just love a muted hue 😉
I had ‘Red Choral’ converted into a cushion recently, just so we have another ‘campanion’ added to the home for more liveliness. Love it, though I ordered a size too small 😬
Drawing of Iris flowers I did earlier this month.
The iris's history is rich, dating back to Ancient Greek times when the Greek Goddess Iris, the messenger of the gods and the personification of the rainbow, acted as the link between heaven and earth. Purple irises were planted over the graves of women to summon the Goddess to guide the dead in their journey.

365 day art challenge 2019. “Shinrin-yoku 1”
Shinrin-yoku is a term that means "taking in the forest atmosphere" or "forest bathing". The idea is simple: if a person simply visits a natural area and walks in a relaxed way there are calming, rejuvenating and restorative benefits to be achieved. “You didn't come into this world. You came out of it, like a wave from the ocean. You are not a stranger here." Alan Watts

Collins St, 5pm by John Brack, painted in 1955. I felt pretty lucky to see one of my all time favourite paintings up close for the first time. This painting inspired and influenced me as a 16 year old art student. I still enjoy the artwork today but feel differently about the subject matter. Things aren’t so mono. 🤷♀️ Wikipedia:
Collins St., 5 pm is a 1955 painting by Australian artist John Brack. The painting depicts office workers walking along busy Collins Street in Melbourne after finishing work for the day—"Blank-faced office workers hurry by like sleep-walkers, thinking only of the pubs or their homes in the suburbs". Brack conceived the work after reading T. S. Eliot's The Waste Land.
