Feeling like a Boss Babe. This week has had so many compilations of tasks I needed to do. They aren’t all getting done when I want them to but I am completing each one. I’m watching my career take off and grow. So happy for the community I’ve created and for the people I’ve connected with. Now, if only I could end the day relaxed in this hammock!
B R A I N • H E A L T H... It's Mental Health Awareness Week - so let's talk inflammation. Yup, likely sounds a strange topic to bring up, but inflammation and the immune system are intimately connected to mental wellbeing... and therefore can be both causative and symptomatic of mental illness.
For example, psychological stress (such as work-related stress) activates inflammatory cascades throughout the whole body. On the flipside of that, inflammation generated through food intolerances, gut permeability or an imbalance in the gut (for example) can result in symptoms ranging from irritability, brain-fog and fatigue, all the way to full-blown anxiety and depression. The gut communicates a state of calm or of alarm to the brain via the vagus nerve, and inflammatory markers are the vehicles used to do so.
Inflammation in the brain serves to shunt the use of tryptophan toward anxiety- provoking chemicals, which displaces the production of seratonin and melatonin.
The importance of recognising the mind and body as one integrated whole is vital - whether it's stress, overwhelm and brain-fog you experience, or anxiety, depression or other more debilitating mental health conditions. Your mind and body are not seperate, even if your doctors like to think of them that way. Inflammation in one part of the body impacts the WHOLE body, including the brain. Physical health and mental health are intimately connected.
The good news This means you're not at the mercy of things you ant control - there are things you can actively do to reduce inflammation - and therefore improve both physical and mental health.
The even better news They're all lifestyle related and accessible to anyone.
> Diet (ditch sugar, inc. the refined carbs, & eat healthy fats)
> Movement - exercise is known to reduce inflammation & improve mental wellbeing
> Stress management (e.g. meditation, mindfulness, tools for resilience)
> Walking barefoot on the Earth ('grounding') reduces inflammation, which comes back to the heart of what I believe - the vast amount of discord & disease today is a result of how far removed we've become from our natural way of being.

It’s important to acknowledge that there are many things in life that can give you that energy... and those things will change as you change and grow
AND THAT IS OK
Stop listening to everyone tell you what they think you should be doing and get still enough to FEEL where you are being pulled
