Could you imagine if the Nationals and Astros play in this years World Series... my God, exactly what this Country and Baseball needs right now... and of course I dont have cable, but I do have corals and fish to stare at 🤓 and fish poo and pee to clean outta my skimmer... 🤮 #scherzervsverlander
You cant make this stuff up!!!
Card 39: Marty Barrett. The wreckage of a should’ve been, could’ve been, would’ve been World Series title entangles itself in the careers of many. Marty Barrett is one of those. He had an incredible post season in ’86 - ALCS MVP (.367 BA) and did even better in the world series hitting .433 with a .514 OBA against a stacked Mets pitching staff and was a lock for WS MVP. But no… Didn’t work out that way.
Google Marty Barrett and you’ll see him striking out to end game 7 and Gary Carter jumping in the air, just insulting for how well he played. Fate can be cruel.
Did you know his brother Tom made it to the show 54 games for the Phillies and Red Sox
Did you know Marty played in the longest professional baseball game in history (’81), a AAA game between the Pawtucket and Rochester. Barrett scored the winning run for Pawtucket in the bottom of the 33rd inning.
