if you experience these thoughts, like i personally do, please take them with the biggest grain of salt. your automatic negative thoughts (ANTs) are NOT a reflection of your worth. having ANTs is completely normal, and a long time back they existed to keep us humans safe from threats, a survival skill if you will. although today they harm us more than they protect us, in my personal experience. most of our throughts are repetitive, we think them again and again. the more you think the same automatic negative thought, you create a neural pathway. the more you think it, the stronger the connections in the brain become. it forms into a habit. and when stress becomes chronic, it changes your brain, alters the methylation of DNA and therefore the activity of certain genes. shit is real. negative thoughts can deplete your serotonin and dopamine, increase your risk of illness, accelerate the brain’s aging process, and more. so how can we stop them ? first we need to know how to identify them. write down repetitive negative thoughts you have, look for connections and situations that can trigger these thoughts. once you can identify them, you can avoid or fix potential triggers, and give the thoughts less power by thinking to yourself “ah, that thought again. that’s a boring thought, a thought that holds no real power over me. a thought my brain made up, that isn’t based in reality.” then, turn your ANTs into positive empowering thoughts (PETs). instead of “i’m wasting my life away”, reframe it as “i am figuring out what i want my life to be like, at my own pace.” instead of “i’m so stupid”, try “i haven’t understood/learnt this yet, but it’s possible if i try some more.” at first you might feel like it’s really fake and silly, but the more you think a thought, the better your brain becomes at repeating it. you want your brain to learn to repeat more of the PETs, and less of the ANTs. and if you’ve already tried it on your own and it hasn’t worked, there is no shame in seeking professional help. sometimes we need a push from a mental health professional to steer us on the right path. do you experience ANTs ? do you have any tips for dealing with ANTs ?

You might be thinking, “well duh?” In my world, “problems” to me can also mean negative emotions. 
I need this simple reminder every single day. I’m human after all and sometimes a drink looks good. On occasion when I’m watching a football game... hard cider sounds nice. Sometimes when I am out at a nice Italian restaurant, a glass of red wine sounds nice. But It would NEVER just want one drink that I was after! 
Every day I am faced with “problems” and or negative emotions… It’s just that some days are easier than others. For example, I’ll get into a small argument with someone in my life and my emotions will become extremely heightened. My old thinking would be that drinking or smoking weed sounds good to help me to cope and relax. But then I play the tape out and that’s when this reminder comes in to play. 
Alcohol and drugs do not solve problems. 
Drinking isn’t going to change the fact that I just got into an argument. Allowing myself to feel upset and process what just happened takes courage. A small argument with a loved one is just an example of many challenging things we are all faced with day in and day out. Feel it and deal with it. You will thank yourself later!!

This Self Care Sunday I’m doing all the inside stuffs while the wind blows wildly outside. I had originally planned on a run, but I’m practicing being flexible. <<If you experience anxiety, you know how tough flexibility is for us.>> • Its going to be a cozy candle flickering type of day🕯. What's funny is I was into and being drawn into using crystals back when I was making #mentallyill decisions before I was diagnosed with everything under the sun. I stopped using them because I felt like they weren't working. But I was causing my own negativity by the "fly by the seat of my pants" decision making I was so fond of. But right now I'm the Most positive person I know right now and that is damn near impossible for a person with #BipolarDepression . اغلب افراد زمانی که خلقشان پایین است می گویند ما انگیزه و انرژی کافی نداریم که کاری انجام دهیم. در این حالت یک چرخه ی معیوب ایجاد می شود: تا وقتی کاری انجام ندهیم خلق تغییر نمی کند و تا وقتی انگیزه نداشته باشیم نمی توانیم کاری انجام دهیم و... .

باید یاد آور شد برای انجام هر کاری نیاز به انگیزه نیست؛ ما هر روز مقدار زیادی فعالیت انجام می دهیم بدون آنکه آن ها را دوست داشته باشیم ویا بدون اینکه انگیزه انجامشان را داشته باشیم؛ زمانی که خلق پایین است منتظر انگیزه یا شور و اشتیاق ماندن نمی تواند معقول باشد؛ زیرا ممکن است هرگز انگیزه ایجاد نشود به ویژه وقتی خلق خیلی پایین است. 
سعی کنید زمانی را به خاطر بیاورید که احساس بدی داشتید و انگیزه انجام هیچ کاری را نداشتید اما شروع به انجام کارهایی کردید مثل دیدن یک دوست قدیمی یا زنگ زدن به آن ها، حتی شستن ظرف ها یا تمیز کردن اتاق و... که بعدا متوجه شدید حالتان خوب شده است یا تمایل بیشتر به انجام کار ها پیدا کردید.

باید بدانید انجام فعالیت های کوچک (بدون انگیزه و حتی بدون میل ) احساسات دردناک را کاهش می دهد و باعث افزایش سطح فعالیت و شکسته شدن چرخه ی معیوب می شود.
