Great Gray Owl in Blues Original Painting on Copper and Canvas $150.00

Great Gray in Blues is my tribute to the tall owl of the North.
I still remember my first middle school art teacher, even if I can’t recall her name. She was the first person to encourage my creativity in a way that made me feel as if I could be an artist. When I got to high school, my art teacher was critical, demeaning, and a bully. I began to withdraw from creativity and I didn’t resume trying to make art until I was in my early 50s. I started by taking @lisacongdon’s classes on CreativeBug in 2016. Lisa’s story encouraged me to see myself as an artist again. Now, nearly four years later, at age 57 (I will turn 58 next week!), I have been a full-time artist for three years. I’m frankly amazed at how much progress I’ve made and how far I’ve come in a relatively short time. While I still have so far to go, I can see progress in my growth nearly every day and I’m working hard to level up with every piece I create. I’m working on a painting right now that I can’t share (because it’s a surprise for someone) so here’s “Prickly,” my swaggy Burrowing Owl surrounded by opulent poppies, painted last fall. // Prickly (Burrowing Owl). 2018. Acrylic on cradled wood panel. .
