When I was about 11 some doctor “jokingly” told me that they might bury me by the time I turned 20... and yeah some days I’ve felt like I could die, of pure sadness, desperation or anxiety related health issues I’ve had for years. But I’m still here, and so I turned 20... I spent quite a simple but nice day surrounded by people I love, and after all ended up feeling so calm, it was a happy birthday 🎂💛 don’t know for how long the feeling will stay, but I gotta keep walking to whatever that may come everyday.

My little girl turned 7 today! ♥️ Every year since her third birthday she has requested a strawberry cake. Technically this is a strawberry cake but technically those are raspberries on top because I didn’t technically have anymore strawberries for garnish 🤷🏼♀️ AND by complete accident, there’s 7 little buttercream swirls on top. Totally didn’t plan that 💁🏼♀️

For damn sure it wasn’t always like this. We had our fair share of cream being in difficult texture to frost. We tried different recipes, different cream, went against our conscience & beliefs and used whip topping & fondant in the first year of startup. Im glad we caught ourselves early, and have since baked steadily for 3 years, advocating for delicious cakes that are also made with quality local ingredients. We have since figured a buttercream recipe we are DAMN proud of, that holds out well on display in room temperature, is velvety and DELICIOUS to eat (read: not oily and not sweet) and most importantly, u don want to tear ur hair out trying to frost a cake, & can get it smooth, straight and sharp. Finally happy with it and since our cakes have its fair share of fans (thank YOUUUU), we are going to share the recipe!!!!!!.
This 29/7 Sunday 1-4pm, we will hold a cake frosting class at our shop where u get to bring home ur favourite ITBY cake, learn how to frost the way we do, and hold the recipe to this buttercream (we will show u how to make it too). U get to ask any burning qns u have on baking, our best student of the year head chef Darren will answer them all. And lets end the day with fun, food photography, we will show u how we do it at the shop! :D all for $128 only!! the price of a cake and knowledge + skills u keep for life.
