“Holy art supplies Batman! It’s not a naked black woman!!” 😂😂😂😂 Progress shot of a commission I’m working on for a friend. Just blocked in color, next will be working on blending and bringing it to life. This piece is special bc of what it represents. I’ll explain later when I reveal the full image
I’m always juggling clouds.
THIS IS A BIG MOOD. My mom always told me when something bad happens or if you're feeling down, you can give yourself 3 days MAX to feel sorry for yourself. Wallow and cry and get it all out, but after that, you get up and you keep going. In 2019 we don't have time to sit and stew in our mistakes and our regrets. We out here and we are fabulous hunny! 🌟
Baby girl video called me the other night. To say goodnight, and show me Her pic She just drew Asé #BlackArtMatters
There is no limit, to what we, as women, can accomplish. -Michelle Obama —————————-
We felt inspired and motivated after spending the afternoon together at the @neemagallery . Did I mention it’s woman owned
The Neema Gallery is Charleston’s newest art gallery featuring original art and jewelry by African-American artists who are from or currently reside in South Carolina. ———————————-
This was our 1st meet up of 2019 and the gallery was perfect. The private viewing gave us a chance to converse, connect and indulge in the artwork, jewelry and one of a kind pieces. New blog post link in bio #1fashlifestyle #fashionxart
Ugh someone speed up the clock
AFRIKAN HISTORY 24/7 🕒 365 📆
FACT #45 🗣Tag someone Greek! Slave Masters would grab your testicles and penis to check to see if you were able to produce, then open your mouth and look at your teeth to see if you were healthy, then slap you on the back and stomach for kicks. YOU HAD TO KEEP YOUR GRIT FACE. As he called your daughter names, beat your wife and fondled her breasts. YOU HAD TO KEEP YOUR GRIT FACE. Slave masters, would rape your wife and then rape you next in front of your family to emasculate you and break you down. YOU HAD TO KEEP YOUR GRIT FACE. When they stole our doctors, chefs, our carpenters, painters, historians, teachers, lawyers, kings, queens, comedians, chefs, musicians, our grandparents and brothers and sisters from Africa and whipped them til them couldn’t pick cotton anymore. WE HAD TO KEEP THAT GRIT FACE. From 1607 to 1968. I’m sure some would argue still until this very day in 2019. WE STILL BE HAVING OUR GRIT FACE. Enduring the pain. Know what you’re doing and where the fuck it comes from. Pure joy with Jen 💕 it’s #BlackHistoryMonth and you know what that means! In honor of Blackness, I’m inviting y’all to check out my @Spotify playlist, cocoa butter 🕊 I named it that because the songs I chose embody sonically the feeling of lathering soothing butters on dry skin after being washed and rubbed clean. These songs connect me to positive vibrations of resonance from my youth as a young, Black girl and I listened to this playlist all throughout Aquarius season to mitigate the fact that it was... really, really hard to navigate ❤️ I have been building out this playlist for a few months now and I add and remove songs as I see fit. I hope it can bring you some soul and some solace this #BHM and at the very least, I hope you dance ⭐️ shouts out SWV, shouts out Whitney and Prince, shouts out Amerie and Luther Vandross, shouts out the mothafuckin’ culture, you feel me because we are healing from the ground up and that’s the real trickle down they be talking about. 🌹 peace and prosperity to all my Black brothers, sisters, nbs, and everything in between and outside. All honor and glory to righteous Black bodies now and forever, always ✊🏾

Italian brand Prada said it is forming a diversity council to "elevate voices of color within the company and fashion industry at large," a move that follows accusations of racism in the luxury fashion world.
Two Americans, artist Theaster Gates and film director Ava DuVernay, will chair the council, Prada said Wednesday. The group will work to develop "diverse talent" and create more opportunities for students of color, the luxury fashion house said.
Gates said his work "amplifies the voices that have been absent from the broad cultural conversations," and he was happy to work with Prada to help make the company more "reflective of the world today."
#WCW Mary Ednonia Lewis⠀
Edmonia Lewis nicknamed “Wildfire”, was the first professional African-American sculptor. She was born in the Northern US circa 1844. Her father was a free African-American, and her mother, a Chippewa Indian. Lewis lived with her mother’s nomadic tribe until 12. She attended Oberlin College in Ohio in 1859, though left after being accused of poisoning her white roommates and facing a very public trial and severe beating. She was acquitted of the charge and moved to Boston. ⠀
Determined to become a sculptor Lewis made enough money selling medallion portraits that she took her first trip to Europe in 1865. Deciding to settle in Rome, a popular place for American sculptors to live because of the availability of fine white marble. ⠀
Edmonia Lewis is one of the 50 women artists featured on the Women's Walk located off Dixie and Cranesnest Way. Learn more about Mary Edmonia Lewis using the mobile tour, conveniently available through text on your mobile device.

tbh I find it hard to open up to people cause from experience whenever I do I get exploited or have those feelings used against me later... it’s alot easier to act aloof but in the end that only hurts you and everyone around you. I’m going to try and be open and optimistic about people’s intentions and no matter how many times I fall I will get up; not for them, but despite them.
