Prince Rogers Nelson as we celebrate the third year of your untimely transition let us take time to appreciate your fearfulness, your courage, your risk taking, your intimacy and above all your love for your people and inspiring them through your music. It’s still raining purple...☔️☔️☔️

How do I get my son to be more responsible How do I get my son to take the initiative How do I deal with a disrespectful, defiant son How do I get my son to care more about his academics How can I get my son to make better decisions How can I help my son cope with not having an involved father These are questions many single mothers have asked themselves.
The rate of households headed by single mothers has steadily increased since the 1960s; Non-Hispanic Whites (25%), Hispanics (42%), American Indian (53%) & African Americans (62%). While many mothers work tirelessly to meet the needs of their children, the fact remains that young men raised in single-parent homes are more likely to have difficulty socioemotionally, more likely to have challenges in school and are more likely to have involvement with the criminal justice system.
Being a single mother is tough, and it requires parenting intentionally. In my latest book, I used my experiences as an educator, social worker, and mentor to develop 15 thought-provoking questions and exciting and engaging activities to share principles and ideas to help support single mothers raising sons so that mothers can not only love their sons but raise well made young men. Some thoughts on #Homecoming :
I think as first generation european/afro-european born in the 90's we can all relate to this admiration we grew up with for afro-americans, their culture and stars... for us they were the only mainstream black culture we could relate to and see pictured in media in our countries. Seeing this documentary it made me realize even more how they today became the models of how to be unapologetically black proudly existing and taking space in mainstream media (in predominantly white spaces) we look upon. It made me full of hope and joy to see so many of my talented brothers and sisters being celebrated with such strength in such a place. Forever grateful to witness some #blackgirlmagic and #blackboyjoy
Out of the many things that I am grateful for, my hair is one of them! I’ve been blessed with a versatile grade of hair and good barbers along the way! Thank you Jesus for always resurrecting my hairline! 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿😁😁 Happy Resurrection Sunday! #BlackBoyJoy
This weekend was everything I needed and more. To be surrounded by minority pre-meds, medical students, and physicians was truly awe inspiring. To the black girls and boys who might think that their dreams are out of reach, this one is for you!
