Luigi's Mansion 3 by Next Level Games and Nintendo for the Switch
Personal Score: 8/10
Score I would give when recommending to others: 8/10
Luigi's Mansion is a very fun series of games. This one is more like the 3DS game in which you're segmented off into levels as opposed to a weird metroidvania-ish singular mansion to explore like the first one. I don't consider that a bad thing though, it lends itself to pick up and play sessions pretty well. The atmosphere in this game is great, it's both goofy and spooky. The music is really fun, it's probably still in there but I don't seem to remember Luigi humming along with the background music which is unfortunate. Gameplay for the most part is pretty good, but some of the precision aiming can be frustrating. The real important aiming snaps to where it needs to be though which helps. I played through most of the game in Co-op, and I think it is better that way. Both Luigi and Gooigi are in control at all times, so it helps a lot during battles and two people trying to find all the gems together is a lot better than banging your head against a puzzle alone. There are a good amount of enemy types, but over the 17 floors of the hotel, you don't see a whole lot of variety but the boss battles are very fun and mostly unique. The graphics are fun and cartoony and the animations for Luigis reactions to everything that scare him are great. One thing that is good, but also kind of weirded me out is that the cinematic look like they. would fit perfectly into a Wallace and Gromit cartoon. Like I said, really weird but I like it.
Overall Luigi's Mansion 3 is another great entry into the Luigi's Mansion series. I'm looking forward to the eventual 4th entry.
