Many of you have asked about these raised beds, so I thought I'd share about them. We put these two in this summer, they are both 6x8 and we added the hoops made from plastic plumbing pipe and brackets. The first bed you can kind of see in there, is strawberry transplants. They are all taking root, but really aren't that beautiful to bother with their own photo. The other bed has 16 cabbage plants in it, the second photo has a shot of that. They are currently covered with a berry cloth, mostly to keep our chickens out of them. To some degree it is helping with bugs on the cabbage. This year we are using BT and food grade DE alternately to handle the worms etc that plague brassicas. It appears to be working well, but honestly, time will tell. Gardening in limited space has its challenges, and our two main challenges are on site septic and old trees. Our main fenced in garden is 1400sq ft, and this year we added 4 raised beds. All while trying to keep it aesthetically pleasing, while working on a tight budget. I hope to add more garden space next spring as well, thankfully I have the winter months ahead to do that planning. I'd really love to grow more vegetables that store well such as sweet potatoes, butter nut and spaghetti squashes and more. You know, items that don't need preserving, saving me time and energy. If you have any great tips or secrets for raising chemical free cabbages and such, please do tell.

Quick easy fall urn planting today around our property for an event. Spectacular cabbages. Tip of the day when planting cabbages, angle them over the edge of the container it shows them off at their best. They remind me of winning a pony club rosette 🏵 all those years ago😊
Congrats to the family of two that won the contest, hope you enjoy your food!!🎉🤗😋
She didn't want the lasagna dinner😔😂😂Picky @everybodyhatesqueen_ 😍😍💃🏽
One of my favorite things to plant in my window box: #cabbage .
I love embracing the change in seasons- after all, my favorite season is which ever one is next. 😂 I’m a ‘love the one you’re with’ kind of gal when it comes to weather.
And you know, that might just be a good rule of thumb for life- change is coming, handle it with grace.

So. Much. Garlic. (I LOVE IT!) Morning brunch with the "foods of my people" as I like to say! 😂 My Irish/Scottish/German heritage cuisine includes potatoes, cabbage, onions, and garlic - and I love it all! I also wilted down a handful of fresh spinach and added a little pink Himalayan salt. 😊 Breakfast is always good, but brunch is better!
