Nothing dresses up a freshly painted kitchen like a smiling homeowner! This project was so much fun. For one thing, we got to go a little rustic and play around with colors and accentuate knot holes in this gorgeous kitchen - that’s better than a day at the amusement park for me. But, the best part was hanging out and making friends with Brittany and family. I love her commitment to keep time and space open for what’s most important to her; her family. With a toddler in the house, and another on the way, she wants a kitchen that is high style and hard working, but low fuss. We used Annie Sloan Chalk Paint, gave it that beloved worn look, and then a high performance top coat. This is about as low fuss and easy to keep nice as it gets. I’m telling you, this paint ain’t coming off. And the look... well, tell us what you think!
Wednesday motivation quote🔝
Yesterday, I had a little set back and ended up with a massive headache. It wasn’t because of eating bad. 🥀 😳It was because I made the mistake of not protecting my lungs while working on a very old piece of furniture. It dated back to the 1800’s. Whatever it had on it there was a chemical reaction to the cleaner I used and when I sanded it, I immediately had a headache and breathing issues. 🥴I ended up in bed right after and the headache didn’t subside until late yesterday.
I tell you this because it happens. Set backs happen.
This morning, I feel much better, although I could use that Sauna mentioned last week in the post, to get rid of the chemicals I was exposed to.
Today is a new day to make better choices.
Can anyone relate 🤷🏽♀️ Every other Saturday, Chad and I have date nights so we can maintain some sort of sanity amongst our crazy schedules. But, when I’m spraying all day, sometimes he gets to take me out like this. Yep, I scrubbed and scrubbed and this is not coming off... at least not tonight.
I know, I know... I should wear gloves. But if I wore gloves every time I paint then I’d be wearing them 24-7 and my hands get all gross in there . I think they give me claustrophobia 😳
It’s a good thing he takes me as I am! The lemonade out of lemons part... I always take my business cards with me because without a doubt, I always get asked if I’ve been painting LOL!
On this kitchen we used Old White. This was a simple project because my client already had amazing countertops, backsplash and flooring! Because of the layout of this kitchen the dark cabinets made it like a cave. Now it’s nice, open and beautiful!!!
