Another gem from the region that’s producing some of the most interesting and flavourful wines in the country, the Adelaide Hills. I had this at Tokyo’s new outpost of Fratelli Paradiso. Made by Commune Of Buttons, this delicious Chardonnay is the restaurants special label. It’s a natural wine, but it’s not too funky. It has a crispness and fine acidity, with stone fruit prominently on display. What I liked most about it was its quite saline minerality. I first tried Commune Of Burton’s wines at Sydney’s wonderful @ester_au and have been wanting to explore more of them ever since. This is a really great drop from the 2016 vintage, and perfect with the superb Italian food @fratelliparadisojapan #chardonnay #omotesando #adelaidehillswine
Had a more or less satisfying run around Paso Robles wineries that was capped off by the absolutely amazing Daou winery deep in the foothills. Overlooking most of the Paso plateau, the view alone makes it a must visit and probably one of the most gorgeous locations I’ve ever been to. Add to that incredible wines from the Sauv Blanc to the Chardonnay to the three reds on the flight, the quality is also off the charts. Highest recommendation. The kind of place you expect Pharrell to just drop in by private helicopter.

Praticamente uma hipnose! Vinho branco Rully 1er Cru “Margoté” 2016. - Domaine Jacqueson. Valeu a pena!!! 8€ a taça. 🇬🇧 Hypnosis! White wine Rully 1er Cru “Margoté” 2016. - Domaine Jacqueson. Just like I love: butter, milky, toasted. A little bit too young to drink, but in few years it will be perfect! 8€ the glass
2015 Peter Michael La Carrière Chardonnay. I've tasted a 2007 Cuvée Indigène chard from this winery some time ago, and immediately got in love with it. This La Carrière proved to be almost as good as that one - it had very expressive aromas of tropical fruits in the nose, with no trace of sugar or vanilla - no overripe grapes or excessive new oak here. It is lighter and fresher than other top cali chards - less fruity and way more mineral, actually very burgundian in the mouth. One could sense here notes of sicilian lemon, stone fruit and a bit of grapefruit, with good acidity, excellent intensity and a quite long finish. For less than $100, this has to be considered a very good QPR regarding top Cali chards. Definitely one to buy again in the future, when it might be even better. 95(+)/100
This is amazing. I’ve just discovered the Wine Society (why didn’t I do it before!) and this is a delicious single vineyard Chardonnay, from Auckland’s Kumeu River. The Exhibition range is named after the International Exhibition at the Albert Hall in 1874 where the Wine Society was founded. Lovely oak, and a long finish. Tastes more expensive than the £14.95 it cost from @thewinesociety1874.
